Weights - where to start?

Hi everyone! I have seen some great results on MFP when some of you started doing weights. What programme do I start with, how many times and how long a day to start making a difference?
I have lost weight mainly through eating better, but would like to add some tone.

I just started using you tube videos. When they got too easy bought heavier weights. Youtube is awesome!0

There are some great programs out there.
If you want to buy a book try NROLFW (New Rules of Lifting for women) or SS (starting strength)
I personally use SL 5x5 (Strong Lift) which is free and there is a great summary here
http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/4601-stronglifts-5x5-for-women
The program I use is 3x a week and when I started it was about 30-45mins...now it's 60-75 depending on the workout.
There are only 2 workouts which you alternate and all of this is detailed in the summary.
When did I see a difference...wow not long but that was with my strength...I am currently 22 weeks in and can see big differences.0 -
