Getting through the Tough Days

I've only been on this journey for about a month and so far it's gone well. Sure, I've had my days when I ate too much, but I just picked myself up and started again. Figured I gained this weight gradually and I can lose it gradually too. So far so good...
Until Sunday, when I nearly cried because I felt so deprived, wanting a batch of warm chocolate chips cookies, or crackers and about a ton of good cheese, or any of the treats I would have indulged in not all that long ago. (Hormonal much? Could be.) I got through it with the help of a big bowl of popcorn--wasn't what I craved, but it was crunchy and tasty and I could nibble a lot of it--and my husband basically not letting me near the kitchen to make cookies because he could in the mood I was in, I would eat ALL THE COOKIES.
I'm not restricting myself terribly. I'm figuring out how to include the taste of the foods I love without eating way too much of them. What I need to figure out is how to deal with the occasional crankiness when I want it NOW and I realize I can't have it. How do you all manage that, especially, ladies, at hormonal moments?

I think about all the reasons I want to lose weight (I have them written down in my phone). If I am stressed (I am a stress eater), I try to do exercise instead, or take a bubble bath. If I want a coke or a glass of wine, and I can't fit it into my calories/food plan for the day, I have bubbly flavored water. I also make sure I give myself "credit" when I resist a craving--telling myself that I am strong and that I am moving toward my goals. It is a constant struggle, but it gets easier.0

Sprinkling cocoa powder on the popcorn helps too. I get horrible chocolate cravings.0

I usually allow myself the indulgence, log it, and make up for it either that day or the next.
The trick for me has always been to find the middle ground that I can hold for the rest of my life. This isn't "all or nothing".
ETA: I look at my calories over the week rather than the day. That has always kept me from beating up on myself for one bad meal (or day).0 -

Excellent suggestions...and clearly it's working for you.0
