I don’t seem to get loose weight but to gain!

I am a 5'2" and 154lbs girl. This is the biggest I have been for my entire life. I am feeling pretty sad because I am getting married on August and I don't think I would be able to make my goal. I decided to stop playing with myself and take my own wedding serious. 1st day of my diet and I am already thinking I am not going to make it.

Time to change the mindset. How you see yourself mentally is a huge part of the deal. If you picture yourself failing, you will. August is a long way off, and you have a lot of time to do a lot of work! Buy a food scale, weigh all your solid food and measure all your liquids so you know you are very accurate with your calorie counts. Don't overestimate your calorie burns. And most of all, don't overthink it! Don't make your life about your eating. Make it about your life. Eating is just one very small part of your life.

You got to be honest with yourself. I wasn't for a long time. I didn't get this way over night and no it is not going to come off over night.

In the mean time, I am meeting a lot of nice people on mfp and at the gym. I want and yearn for support. So jump on! grab a bunch of people who are going to support you and you support them. Get around positive people.

You can do this! Just remember 1-2lbs week is great progress!

If you think you're going to fail, there's a pretty good chance it's going to happen. You HAVE to change that attitude!

IMHO, just the wedding isn't enough because like many brides, you'll just drop the new habits and gain the weight back and what's the point of that? It's just a waste of hard work! My point is, you need to come up with some more concrete reasons and a good solid long term plan. Don't just do it to look good in a dress for one day. Do this for yourself. For your self-esteem and health and fitness and longevity.

Think about HOW you're going to do it. Set reasonable weight loss and fitness goals. Take small gradual steps to making your lifestyle healthier and more active. Plan your meals. Make these things a priority.

    You CAN do this!

always glad to help. Good job reaching out, that's the first step!
  • You have all of February through July ...that's 6 WHOLE months. If you lose 5 pounds a month that's 30 pounds and you'd be 124 by your wedding, certainly thin and wouldn't require an insane diet that is likely to make you quit after the first week. Best of luck!

This is my first day back at it and have the same feelings as you but I know as soon as I see some results it will be worth it. We need to be patient and motivated!

Hang in there! I always find the first three days the hardest, but if you can make it past day three then you're on a roll!

remember too that the wedding should be just one goalpost on the road. It's a journey, not a destination.

Hi. Just to echo others really....whether you think you can or you can't, you will be right....(Henry Ford said something along those lines I think!).

I am 5'2.5 and in June 2012 weighed about 162lbs. I have weighed 134ish lbs since last Feb. I joined Biggest Loser website and having been a wonderful dieter all my life (I'm 46) I set out to change for good and to hit maintenance and stay there and I feel I have. I watched my Mum age 76 picking herself to pieces for her wt and I resolved not to be the one still doing that in 30yrs time.

The wedding is a motivator but definitely only part of the process, a life chnage doesn't have an end date which hols/weddings can imply.

You have to be prepared to work at it, not just think it'd be nice to be slimmer but you DO have the power to do this. Go get it :o)
