Optimum is OK if you want something you can buy locally. I've also heard that ON makes the vitamin shoppe stuff, but hte powder is quite different.
That said...
Trutein is much, much better.0 -
I use Horleys Sculpt Protein Powder I have the banana flavour which is sooo yummy! its light but filling and its gluten free as well so you do feel so bloated after. I have it with skim milk in the morning for breaky if I have no time but normally just water after my workouts
Ideal for:
* Women with busy lifestyles who are working out and need an extra source of vital nutrients to keep their bodies toned and healthy
* Women who are seeking a nutritious, convenient meal replacement formula to assist with a calorie modified eating plan
* Women looking for a high protein supplement to assist with lean muscle gain and weight management.
Sculpt makes a great morning or afternoon meal, or can replace lunch if required. If you're not good at eating breakfast, make yourself a Sculpt smoothie. The best time to use Sculpt is after a workout (or two hours before if you find yourself exercising and feeling hungry).
Available in five delicious flavours
* Swiss Chocolate
* Vanilla Creme
* Summer Berries
* Banana Smoothie
* Cafe Latte0 -
Body fortress chocolate is as cheap as it gets and is drinkable. BF chocolate peanut butter tastes like a nutty bar. BF cookies and cream and vanilla are both undrinkable and awful no matter what you mix them with.
Myofusion chocolate is a solid protein powder. Very decent (though its the only quality brand chocolate that I've tried). It's best with a spoonful of instant coffee, a splash of SF caramel coffee syrup, a cup of milk, a cup of water, and ice. Best iced latte ever. Seriously.
Dymatize gourmet berry is almost pure protein (106cals and 25g protein). It's decent but too sweet, but thats true of most of them. Dymatize vanilla is good. I like mixing the two together, or adding the vanilla to greek yogurt with berries. yum!
Syntrax lemonade: Tastes like a foamy minute maid. Weird and fake.
Syntrax matrix mint cookie: hands down the BEST tasting protein I've had. Like mint chocolate chip ice cream and not sickly sweet either. YUM!0 -

Pure Protein Plus Complete Protein Blend with Whey @ Sam's Club
I buy the French Vanilla and add in whatever fruit I want.
I use in place of a Meal prior to my Work-out!0 -
I use Jay Robb -- taste great - mixes well even with just water and is not chocked with a bunch of additives it doesn't need. It is a little more expensive, but I think its worth it. They have a pack of single serving flavors you can buy if you just want to try it. I order it off of his website and have always had great customer service.0

There is a difference between meal replacements and most protein powders.... Protein powders are generally to be used as a supplement, not a meal replacement. Meal replacements are a different ball game- up there with weight gainers and the like.
But don't let me interrupt the infomercial..... :indifferent:0 -
Not to sound like i'm just regurgitating here, but I've seen some great results with Optimum Nutrition 100% Gold Standard Whey. Good protein/carb ratio without too much sugar. Mixes very well with a variety of different options, too. I've tried some of the others from local/chain stores and aside from tasting like hell, they are just garbage for your body.
Might want to check out supplementwarehouse.com might be some good deals.
Little tip, mix with some skim milk and greek yogurt. Good protein boost that fills you up. That's my standard breakfast and I'm good until around 1-2 pm.0 -
Aria woman's protein comes in Chocolate or Vanilla their naturally flavored and sweetened, no artificial flavors, no MSG, non-GMO SOY and 99% lactose free outside of all the health stuff it taste good (I mix it with silk almond vanilla milk) and it's Heart healthy.0

I like Optimum Nutrition "Rich Double Chocolate"
I tried their cookies and cream, which someone recommended above. But I don't think it tasted like either cookies or cream, and in fact was sorta harsh chemical and medicinal tasting. I only got through the tub by mixing it with their chocolate.0 -
HAMMER NUTRITION makes delicious Whey that is HEALTHY, & has several flavor options. Hammer is known for their healthy products that are geared toward athletes. Started using them when did my first Ironman & have stayed with this product ever since. (tried a few others but they are all loaded w/artificial colors, flavors, sweetners, etc. If I can't pronounce it, & it's a chemical I don't eat it) Try them out--you'll REALLY like this product0

Trutein Cinnabun flavor!
My ticker agrees!0 -
I use EAS Soy Protein in Chocolate flavor mixed with water or soymilk, whichever I'm feeling that day, and add 1 tbs of Maranatha No-Stir Creamy Almond Butter. It doesn't taste bad at all. I love it.0

I've used Optimum Nutrition natural Vanilla (I don't like artificial sweeteners), it's pretty good. I really like Tera Whey, found that at my grocery store, it's organic... Price is steep though.0

Thank you all so much. All the info is such a big help. Off to the store i go.. ))..0

+1 for Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey! I've only tried double rich chocolate though. I also like Sunwarrior. EAS Lean and Pure Protein taste funky to me. Good luck!0

Most stores have samples. i would ask for some so you can try before you buy. And then price shop. You can generally find excellent prices on line versus the store. Good luck.0 -

I also use Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard - I like the extreme milk chocolate. My favourite so far!!
Also have used Iso Femme Chocolate Temptation which I really like as well.0 -
Trutein Cinnabun flavor!
My ticker agrees!
Your ticker is a smart man and or woman0 -
Bumping as they no longer make the kind that I loved :sad:0

I love Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey in French Vanilla Creme. I like to add stuff to my shakes so vanilla is perfect for me. I put 1 rounded scoop, frozen fruit, and almond/coconut milk in a single-serv blender.0

I drink About Time whey protein. It's supposed to be one of the cleanest ones out there. I think because of that is why I can take it. I generally gag on most whey proteins and can't get them down. No problem with this brand. Great flavors too. Birthday Cake is probably my favorite but the vanilla tastes just like a shake and the chocolate is great too.0

I like the Optimum Nutrition 100% Gold Standard Whey as well. My personal favorite the Cinnamon Graham Cracker, I also like the chocolate peanut butter but only if I add some PB2 and banana to it. The Syntha-6 powder is pretty good too. Also it may sound weird but I use Bariatric Fusion protein powder too. They have a lot of additional vitamins and nutrients etc which is great, but those I use with almond milk, greek yogurt, and ice and blend it together ( i love the mint chocolate ice cream flavor). I've also tried Synthrax Nectar. No good my friends, at least not the apple. Tastes like pepperjack cheese and feet :P yuck!0

If you are in the UK or anywhere in europe actually I recomend the website myprotein.com, there whey is super good.
THIS!
Since I'm not a professional athlete, I don't need isolates and expensive protein powders with BCAA's and other amino acids like ON Gold Whey. If I was in the US I'd probably drink that, but since i'm in Europe, I use Myprotein, it's excellent and cheap.0 -
Personally, I pick any protein powder without sucralose, sugar alcohols.
Garden of Life, Warrior Blend.
Tetris Whey unflavored.
Jay Robb's unflavored/natural egg protein.
Nutiva rice protein.0 -
I also prefer something that's as natural as possible. I personally use Shakeology, but I am a huge fan of Vega Sport products as well. Vega Sport is all natural and very tasty!0
-
I use Muscle pharm combat ( Costco has 9 $ off coupons) on 5-6 lb box. If I am using Protein powders to bake something.
Betty Lou's protein powder to use in recipes which have Protien powder.0 -
This is hand's down the best in my opinion. The vitamin's are 100% from vegetables. Each container comes with an independent lab verification report updated often.
This flavor is the best, I've tried them all. Use a bit of milk it works better than water. I've spent thousands on various powders, and meal replacements and this is the first one that immediately after taking I feel more mentally alert because of the vitamins.
I highly recommend it. Check out the amazon reviews. It's pretty expensive though:

I've used a load of protein power before but the one that really works for me is Dynatize Elite. For me this is wonderful. I take a load of it around my resistance/HITT session but it seems to reduce the fatigue I feel the next day. I am sure there are others out there of similar content but I would recommend it highly.0
