I usually eat whole wheat or reduced fat Ritz or reduced fat Club. I'm sure there are much healthier versions out there, but I live in the middle of nowhere and that's the best I can do here. Triskets are good too, but some of the flavors aren't as good to me. At least with the Ritz or Club, I get a good cracker flavor. I also make sure I read the package as far as the serving size. Thats where crackers will get you. One serving is 4-6 but who can eat only 1 serving?
  • I LOVE REDUCED FAT WHEAT THINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its 16 crackers per serving 130 calories.

May i suggest some laughing cow lite creamy swiss cheese with them.
Definetely one of my favorite snacks.

I like "Mary's Gone Crackers" they are organic with a lot of fiber. Try the pepper or the caraway. You can eat 13 of them for low carb and calorie count.

We like the reduced fat wheat thins, too. I buy the Fit and Active brand from Aldi Food Stores. 16 crackers are 130 calories. I put them on a microwave safe plate, then slice a Sargento Fat Free Mozarella Cheese stick (50 cals) into 16 little pieces and put one piece on each cracker. Pop 'em in the microwave for 30 seconds and you've got a nice 180 calorie snack.
  • Kellogg's - Special K Crackers - Multigrain - only 90 calories for 17 crackers. they're yummy.
  • Thanks Virgie....what I'm talking about....lol

In the Cracker aisle at the supermarket or in the Cereal aisle? I'm interested, too. MY hubby likes crackers with his soup but doesn't like the calories they add. Now if I could just find a low calorie Graham Cracker. Have you ever looked at the calories in those things??? Yikes. He used to sit down and eat an entire envelope full (3 envelopes to a box).

I recently discovered something new and wonderful :) wasa cracker bread! You can break it up into little crackers or make like an open sandwich. High in whole grains, low in calories with a lot of different types/flavors.
  • I picked up some Special K crackers, in the cracker aisle, think they are herb, they are really good....

Will have to look for the wasa bread next time....

All-bran garlic and herb have a good taste and are good for you. Also, kashi has triscuit-like crackers and are also organic at a decent price. They also carry multigrain crackers in different flavors. I would stay away from ritz and reduced fat crackers that are just made up refined white flour. Try to find something with whole grain listed as the first ingredient and then you will be sure that is is good for you. It should contain a decent amount of fiber and protein.
  • I read ingrediants till my eyes burned looking for healthy crackers and ended up with WASA Fiber Crispbread for 35 cal, a half gram fat, 8 carb, 2 fiber and 1 pro. & salt 60. I found that refined wheat was the first ingrediant in most crackers, including my favoerite wheat thins. Most crackers are really high in salt. The latest recommendation by the govt. was closer to 1500 mg of salt, down from 2400 mg. It is really hard to stay that low. Of course I am sure there are people that need more who exercise streneously in high temperatures and who are in danger of heat exhaustion or heat stroke. But most of us go from one climate controlled room to another and no longer need much salt.

Here's a link to the American Heart Associan's page on Sodium intake.

Very interesting reading. I'm a "salt-a-holic" and trying hard to cut back as much as I can.

they're in the cracker aisle - near the wheat thins :)
