Finally doing this properly

Hi All,
I'm Gemma, 30 from UK but living in Dubai currently. i've been yo-yoing in weight for years but apart from a couple of skinny years at university I have always been overweight. Right now my BMI is 33 so I know that I need to do something.
A few months ago I tried to get back into playing football which I have loved since I was in school. Unfortunately I tried to do too much too quickly and damaged my left knee badly and have only just managed to get strength back in it enough to start exercising again.
I am only in the first few days but I am already loving the extra energy I have from exercising, I have really missed it. I've been doing physio exercises and swimming but its just not been the same.
I'm determined to get down to a size 10. The majority of people over here in Dubai are slim and it is difficult to find clothes in bigger sizes. I also stand out massively at any table and I just want to blend in finally. Even typing this is difficult because its hard to admit how much I have let myself go. Every conceivable thing you can think of can be delivered to your doorstep here. And there are temptations everywhere. Fruit and veg is all imported so costly, and its cheaper to eat out than it is to cook for yourself. But these are all excuses, and hopefully ones that I won't be making anymore as I really want to turn over a new leaf.
I signed up to MFP a long time ago but have never really got into the swing of it. But a friend of mine has been using it and its really helped her so i'm inspired to give it another go. I thought i'd do it properly this time and try and share experiences on the forum.
I am currently going 30 day shred (jillian from biggest loser) and 30 day kickstart (biggest loser) and the 30 day shred thread is what motivated me to start again so MFP has already helped me enormously.
Sorry for going on so much, thank you for reading if you got this far!

hey, good luck!
I find eating out definetly makes things a iltte more challenging, unless they tell you the calories on the menu. You can still log any meal, you know approximately by using the data base. LIke if you can't find the item, try to log the ingredients.
I think that if you can maybe bring lunches to work and do breakfast and or dinner at home that would go a long way.
also highly recommend you get a food scale and measuring spoons and cups if you do not have them. there is really no other way to know for sure what you are eating.
Its easy to get discouraged for a millions reasons. If you can put a solid three months together of eating at your target calories and exercising you will be surprised how far you get0
