Workout DVDs....what works & what doesn't?!

I have tried several different at home DVDs but haven't really found one that I really enjoyed doing. I workout five days per week at my work gym but I like to keep it going on the days I'm not in the office. I love to dance so I typically use those kind but I'm open to all options.

What's everyone else working out to??

why not just do something you like rather than trying to like something you don't like. what is this weird need to do DVD workouts that people have...it's like they think if they're not doing a DVD then they're really not working out or something. i've never done a DVD workout in my life and I'm fit as a fiddle...
  • I do workout at the gym on my own as well as a toning class. But I'm seeing what's out there to do at home on the days I'm not able to get to the gym. For me it's easier to follow a dvd than to try to make up my own workout.

This. I've tried a bunch too, the only ones I can tolerate are the walking ones (but I can do that watching something else) and the weight lifting ones. If you like dancing stuff, I'd look up some zumba DVDs.

I would go to your local library and get a few DVDs to try out. I enjoy Winsor Pilates, T-Tapp, Jillian's DVDs and Tae-Bo kickboxing. If you try a few out then you can figure out what works for you and then get those DVDs.

I have heard Turbo Jam is a fun DVD so I am planning on trying that next.

Find something you enjoy doing. The library was a good suggestion.........you can at least find a "genre" you like. YouTube is a good place to "try before you buy"

I had a Netflix (by mail) subscription & got a new workout every week for several months. That helped me narrow it down - alot. I'm not a dancer.....so I can't make specific recommendations.

This website has loads of info on exercise DVDs - impact level, choreography level, equipment required ......and video clips. Look up any prospective DVDs here

I love my Belly Dancing DVDs. I've also started the Brazil Body Now DVD set. I think they're really effective, and I find myself smiling when I'm not dying LOL. I have to use DVDs because there's no way I'd ever push myself past my comfort level on my own. I love the convenience of being able to just roll out of bed & pop in the DVD. No hassle of getting dressed & driving somewhere & dealing with a bunch of other people in my space...I also like the privacy of NOT having other people seeing me when I'm huffing & puffing & getting fatigued. I think it's just a personal preference.
