How to get enough salt

I season my food and eat a banana everyday but I'm still not getting enough salt in my diet. What do you do?

Well your diary isn't public but most people get enough sodium in their food if that's what you mean.
Potassium is another story but you at least have a banana. :)
The sodium number in your diary is a maximum, not a minimum or target. You should get at least 500 mg of sodium daily but that's hard to miss. Did your doctor say you needed more?

Why do you think you need more salt? The human need for sodium is very low.

I've always had low blood pressure and I've always craved salt. I add it to my cooking, and always have sea salt, plain iodized salt, and kosher salt handy. I love it! I think for some people it's harmful and adds to overly high blood pressure, but not for most people. So just make sure you're not in that group :)
  • Ohh! I thought 2300 was the right amount because it said goal. I've got half that in today so I'm way over the minimum 500.

Thank you for clearing that up for me :)

No, on MFP that is the maximum. You are probably just fine. It is incredibly hard to track sometimes because people submitting to the database are only interested in calories and sometimes carbs.
  • Oh i know! I had such a hard time trying to find a beef steak that actually had the amount of iron listed.

Oh well. I'm losing weight so I'm pretty chuffed haha!
