Calorie counting!!!!

I have always been confused as to what I am supposed to do with the calories burned while working out. It automatically adds it back into my daily goal but am I supposed to eat them back? My BMR is just over 1400 but the my fitness pal calculator "says" I should only be eating just over 1200 calories a day. In that case I would think my body is going into starvation mode! I don't want all this work to be for nothing. I am doing Insanity again and my average calorie burn is between 400 to 500 per workout based on my average heart rate. Please someone explain this to me! thank you in advance

It is telling you to eat 1200 calories because you have set up your weight loss goal/ week to maximum. You should be eating 500 deficit to lose weight steadily. So your BMR+ exercise calories-500= total that you should eat. Or you can use TDEE calculator. You can find it by googling it.0

MFP's calorie goals are based on NET calories. So since it sets up your goal at 1200 NET calories, that 1200 calories already sets you up with a deficit. You should eat back your calories so that you are at 1200 net calories per day. You will not be "working out for nothing".0
