NSV: scoliosis pain subsiding

Scoliosis (and having a big chest probably doesn't help) meant I was always having constant minor back pain at minimum. Sometimes it got bad enough that I couldn't sleep. Since I've been doing 30DS, using weights, and doing yoga the amount of pain has been reduced so much.

Some days I only have a dull ache for short periods of time.

I love it!

Congratulations! Spinal pain is a big reason I am trying to loose weight as well- isn't it funny how sometimes when It hurts so bad you feel like you can't move are the times you need to move the most? If anyone needs friends with spinal issues, I had surgery in 2005 when I was 15 for scoliosis/ hyperkyphosis.

So happy for you! Keep it up! Great NSV!

Thanks! I wanted mine fixed when I was a teen but the specialist said my curve wasn't bad enough (I think it was somewhere around 42° at the time). He couldn't give me a brace either because he said my curve is higher than usual, about even with my right shoulder blade.
I really need to go back though I'm 29 now. At this point I'm almost afraid of a dr telling me i should get it fixed though, I no longer have the blinding optimism of youth haha!

I had a 60 degree curve and I think they got it in the range of high 30's to 40... It's still obvious to me, but no one else is watching me quickly switch profiles in the mirror. Unfortunately I have not had the time to travel 2.5 hours to see my specialist since 2008, either :/ If they recommend the surgery I can tell you that it is soooo worth the recovery time. Really the recovery seemed less painful than before I had the operation, though I was COMPLETELY doped up for the first couple months. Thanks for adding me!

Woot!! Decrease in back/neck pain is the biggest reason I work out, and yoga was the biggest help. Now I can even weight lift (not all lifts by any means)! I still get flare-ups all the time, but they are usually more minor than before. That's such a wonderful thing. I'm so glad yours is getting better!

Living with chronic pain is just awful. Diminishing pain and improved health have got to be the best NSV's in my opinion. Happy for you! :drinker:
