bruised ribs

Hi! I need some advice for maintaining my fitness level with bruised ribs. I am supposed to start training for a half marathon on the 17th for a mother's day run and I can't run. It is too painful. Any ideas about what I can do instead. Lifting hurts also. Thanks for your help.

    healing?

    My thoughts exactly!

OP, take the time to heal, if you want to stay active do something that doesn't hurt. More importantly, ask your doctor what he recommends

Is it skin bruise or muscle bruise? if its muscle, take the rest, hurt my ribs a few times, cracked ,bruised doing my kickboxing days, it's best to do nothing for a while. I could barely cough or sneeze without almost crying hahaha

Thanks, everyone. Its a bone/muscle bruise (from sparring at tae kwon do). I took a half hour walk today but thats not going to cut it when it comes to maintaining fitness. This is so frustrating!

I hear ya! It's part of the game. My cracked ribs came from sparring, took about 5-6 weeks to heal both time, , happened in the same year, so that was 3 months out! Since the physical part is on the shelf, focus on the mental aspect. Also, you can also do light forms, blocks, things like that.
