Help! I need to know: do you ladies gain weight while on your period??? I was at 157 a week ago, and then this week I weighed in at 163!!!! There's no way I could have gained 6 pounds in a week since I've been exercising and staying under my calorie goal! The only thing I can think of is that I went on my period. Do you experience this as well? I'm feeling so frustrated because I was so super excited about finally making it under the 160 mark! Does anyone have any information on this? Help?

absolutely! lol!! just wait until the week after - the weight magically disappears!!
  • Absolutely - mostly fluid retention though I think. I don't even bother weighing myself thru that week, it's too deceiving!

Yes it is definitely from your period. It happens to me also , usually within 2 days after your last day you are back to normal.

Welcome to my world!! It's awful, isn't it?!?! It seems like I have only ONE good week a month! It's the "pre-week" then it's the week of, followed by the "post" week! I'm soon gonna be wishing I was DONE with it for good!!

Just gotta keep plugging along... :flowerforyou:

Phew... thanks so much guys (well, gals... ) I was so stressed out!!! Either I've just never noticed it or it's never been this bad before, but man it made me go into panic mode! Glad to know it's universal.

We should have our own forum! It seems like there's a lot of questions about things like this, or birth control, breastfeeding, etc... Not a lot of information out there, so we all have to share personal experiences in order to answer questions!:grumble:

That seems pretty extreme for just normal water retention. I just had a two week period thanks to a low dose birth control pill and I only gained .2 pounds. And I didn't force myself to have a lot of self-control. I was starving the whole time and I ate what I wanted.

I didn't even think about this! I just started yesterday and today I weighed 3 pounds more than I did 2 days ago. I wasn't panicking about it, but I wasn't happy. My weight loss had been pretty steady for 3 weeks.

    Thanks for asking!

Another question for us ladies about TOTM: Do you crave anything specific during? I always crave dairy, but it makes the cramps worse and just generally makes me feel awful.

  • Yep, I always gain on my period.

Yup just water retention. But personally, no I don't gain while I am on my period.
