I'm just very impatient

In 4 days I'll be completing my 1st month. I lost 12 pounds so far...17 pounds to go
but I'm out of patience and just tired..I'll be needing some motivation from some of you MFP folks!

You lost 12 pounds in a month and you aren't happy with that??? Congrats on the 12 pounds but if that isn't motivation enough to continue I don't know what else to say.

    Exactly. smh..

    and Congrats.

I lost a measly 3lbs maybe I should give up. And although that I'm sounding sarcastic I did have a few melt downs over only losing a stupid 3lbs! LMAO!!!

But, that was the old me throwing a fit. lol

I was going to post this TODAY!!. I can't stand the waiting...I haven't lost anything yet because I don't see results fast enough and give up. I am short on patience for this type of thing, but have a ton of patience for other things. ?

Your success is encouraging. Maybe it's just a bad day/week.

Good luck to you. You are farther along than someone like me who is still sitting wishing for it to happen while sitting on my butt looking at before and after pictures of everyone elses hard work and persistence.

I'm trying to remind myself of this saying - "Your not going to get the *kitten* you want, sitting on the one you have"

Keep going ....I want to see your before and afters...........

The weight. Did you put it on in a month?

If not, you probably won't lose it in a month.

anyway since I've been like 11 years old I started becoming overweight..I don't remember a time of my life where I'm within a healthy weight range..therefore answering your question is really hard :)

Just stick to the plan. You are doing great. Don't give up.

    You will regret quitting.

  • Think of Dory from Finding Nemo and "Just keep swimming." What you are doing is working, so keep on doing it. Find something positive to focus on besides the scale and be proud that you are making it work. You'll get there!

It helped me to eat at maintenance for a few days for every ten pounds I lost. If you are tired, that might help you get your mojo back. Welcome to MFP!

If you quit - you will only regret it. You will only get bigger and bigger.

Just take a break for 2 days, then get back at it!

At any rate, you have come a long way already and you're off to a great started! I can't imagine how focused you must've been in your first month. That alone will wear a person down! Even though it's important to count calories, weigh and measure foods, exercise, etc. it's also important to take a step back sometimes and give yourself a break. This doesn't mean that you should go back to your old habits, but you need to remember to not allow this to become an obsession. If you need a few days to just not work out, not log, whatever, then give yourself that, but then get back at it.
Don't try to do too much too soon and overwhelm yourself.

    Welcome to MFP :flowerforyou:

I'm going to differ from the main opinion here, but I totally mean it as support! If you have lost weight that quickly and it's getting you down, chances are you are restricting too much and/or exercising too much. Be very careful that what you are doing is sustainable! You don't want to burn out, and you want to be making habits that you carry over into maintenance.

I'm just guessing there, but imho it's a little early to be quite tired of it (well, the way I do it, which is lazy and easy, lol!). Slow and sustainable is the best way if you have the patience for it. Very fast can be bad news on into things. Be careful.

Since it's taken me six months to lose 16 lbs., I'd be ecstatic if I dropped 12 in one month. It'll probably take me another three or four months to drop 12 more lbs!

Congrats on your loss, if you accomplished this through healthy eating and exercising, amazing work! Most of us are lucky to lose 4lbs per month. It has taken me nearly one year to lose 25lbs, not sure how anyone can expect miracle-like results? You lose fast, you gain it back real fast. Slow and steady wins the health race.

All, please remember the below rule. If you find this rule hard to follow, then please don't post.

    1. No Attacks or Insults and No Reciprocation

    a) Do not attack, mock, or otherwise insult others. You can respectfully disagree with the message or topic, but you cannot attack the messenger. This includes attacks against the user’s spelling or command of written English, or belittling a user for posting a duplicate topic.
    b) If you are attacked by another user, and you reciprocate, you will also be subject to the same consequences. Defending yourself or a friend is not an excuse! Do not take matters into your own hands – instead, use the Report Post link to report an attack and we will be happy to handle the situation for you.

OP, congrats on your success. Remember that when you start your weight loss journey, it's very common to lose up to 10 lbs of water weight, so these losses shouldn't be expected. Also, ensure you make sure you eat enough calories to sustain your lean body mass, especially, if you want a lean body with definition.

This will probably not sound right, but:

    You need to slow down.

You're doing too much, too fast.

    That's why you're tired.

If you take it a bit easier, eat a few more calories, work out a bit less, your stamina will stay intact.

Basically, you won't be so tired.

If the process is easier, you will have more patience for it.

Most people trying to lose weight are impatient. You won't even begin to make progress until you conquer that. I sure didn't.
