I know what you mean, I hate the treadmill too! I usually rotate between the elliptical, stair climber and the bikes. Hope that helps0

Jog or powerwalk0

Just go for a walk, biking, running or jogging, swimming, dancing. There are so many alternatives for cardio.0

I use the stationary bike and burn 4 or 5 times more calories than walking with equal aerobic benefits. Plus you can adjust the tension and burn more calories. I was reading today that physicians ranked walking the number one exercise and the stationary bike was number two.0

I use an elliptical, and combat boredom by watching TV on my smart phone. Currently watching season 1 of Nashville. Cardio time just whizzes by.0

Hello! I am not sure all that you are asking? Is it just the treadmill or running? If you have not been running very long it maybe the issue of too much to soon or if it is just the boredom. On the treadmill/gym you can do short periods and jump on another cardio machine or alternate if they have an indoor track. If you want to run outside you can do the same thing with different areas. You can almost always access a track at a nearby school for a kinder surface, use your neighborhood and focus on something you enjoy(flowers, cars, decorations, etc...). Always start slow and build up, you can walk for 2 minutes and then jog for 2. If this sounds preachy or is not what you were thinking please ignore it. I hope it was helpful though.0

lol ok then do BURPEES.
See if you like that better than treadmill0 -
I have a love affair with the elliptical, particularly the Precor machines. They burn so many more calories. However, I have been trying to branch out and do other forms of cardio so that I don't get bored with it.0

Single leg burpees...you'll be too busy trying to stay upright to be bored.
Running outdoors is so much better than treadmill...or just clocking up some miles walking.
At home in a big fan of fitness blender on YouTube...all sorts of workouts to suit time.0 -
Go to the park. Do what the kids do! I am 61 and go with my granddaughter. If you can't keep up with them then just walk!0

As some others have said, run outside! Perhaps also look into joining one of the outdoor bootcamp-style events that are all over the place nowadays, as they are group-based and run.
You really don't need special trainers for running. It's a myth perpetrated by the running shoe industry. Just wear what is comfortable, and follow the golden rule of not doing Too Much Too Soon.0 -
Are you interested in an exercise program you can do at home, following along on your tv?
I get a far better workout doing 1/2 hour of DDPYoga than 1/2 hour on a treadmill.0 -
what is your goal & fitness level? HIIT programs burn more calories in less time then static pace running does so thats an option to torch some calories and get off the dreadmill faster but if your goal is building endurance for running longer distances I recommend the couch to 5k program, there are lots of apps you can download for it and it breaks up the workout into running & walking intervals to help you work up to running. If you're in a snowy region like me and stuck with the gym for your workouts then that is an alternative. Also experiment with the other cardio machines at your gym you might find one you like better, I have an arc machine I like, its like a cross between an elliptical & a stair climber.0
