Are you serious about changing your life and having fun?

I observe so many people wanting to change their health but they aren't educating themselves on nutrition. If this was all easy then everyone would be fit and healthy. The reality is a bunch of companies out there want to make money off you being fat and staying fat. We just watched the Superbowl and McDonalds was telling us that athletes eat McNuggets. They must think we are stupid! Yes its a conspiracy! HAHA
If you are serious about your fitness goals then you need to educate yourself. Make it your life's passion not a hobby. But you've got to have fun with it! Have the margarita, or cheese or whatever food you want - in moderation. Not everyday.
Look at it this way - if your life's dream is to travel the world, would your body now be able to enjoy the experience to the fullest? Even more simply, if you want to play with your kids or ride your bike - do you want it to be a fantastic experience or just so-so? Are you tired and sluggish all the time? That can change with simple choices YOU MAKE every day. No excuses! This is your life. Friend me and let's do this together!

There are Olympic athletes that eat mcdonalds. .. the focus shouldn't be on demonizing food but rather finding a balance in overall nutrition that cuts nothing out. I've gotten in shape, lost weight and am perfectly healthy eating fast food, ice cream, pizza... The individual foods isn't to blame, it's the over-consumption and lack of balance.
So, every day is okay in moderation. I get you understand the moderation bit but there's no conspiracy0 -
I eat McDonalds 5 days a week...just sayin0

Think about what you just said ...0 -
So I can have whatever food I want in moderation except McNuggets? :huh:0
-
Athletes do eat at McDonalds, which makes your argument fall rather flat (even though the second paragraph was solid). Granted, Michael Phelps apparently ate more McDonald's during one day of the last Olympics than I eat there in a couple of years put together.0

Well, maybe you can have them if you're not an Olympic athlete?0 -

I like you
Eta: OP-I've lost almost 60lbs and now I'm successfully maintaining that loss, while still eating fast food 3-4 times a week (heading to Wendys for lunch in a few minutes and I had Steak n Shake last night ), and all the other foods I like. Weight loss and maintenance is about staying within your allotted calories. Simple as that.0 -
Confusing thread is confusing. :huh:0

My body appreciates the Cheetos and Hershey's minis I just fed it.0

OMFG what are those and where do I get them so I can put them in my mouth!!!!!!
Don't worry op...I am going to chew and spit them out because I know that putting BAD foods in my body will totally destroy my weightloss.0 -
I had a lot of fun going to McDonald's yesterday morning to get breakfast for my husband and myself. It was such a nice day and there was almost no one else out moving around. I'm up early on Sunday bringing home the bacon (egg and cheese McMuffin). For serious. It was delicious.0

I want these! OMG they look delicious!0 -

Yes I'm serious.
But not that serious.0 -
I appreciate what you are trying to say!
It isn't all about calories in/out. It's about the QUALITY of food we eat! Yes, one can maintain a specific weight eating fast food 5 days a week but you compare their overall health to someone choosing whole foods/not processed, I am sure you will see a difference.
Just do your best to choose good foods and eat your treats in moderation. Your body will thank you!0 -

Well, since you asked
SW: 175lbs bmi 28.2 and glucose number in pre-diabetic range
Decided to lose the weight on the recommendation of my doctor, to avoid diabetes (which many of my overweight family members have and I've lost one grandfather to it, losing my grandma to it now). I began learning about portion sizes, how calories work and breaking bad eating habits (like mindless evening snacking). Continued to eat the foods I liked, within these new parameters, and lost almost 60lbs (around 50lbs were lost with no exercise either). What I ate: fast food several times a week, 'processed' foods, snack type foods like chips and cookies, and then also things like veggies, whole grains, eggs etc etc. I did NOT cut out any foods I liked, just learned how to eat them in a responsible way.
CW: 117-120lbs is my maintenance range/bmi in 19 range/bf% is around 17%/ glucose number is solidly in the normal range/full blood panel is pretty much perfect, including no longer being considered high risk for type 2 diabetes; very low risk for heart disease, blood pressure is spot on etc etc etc.
I'm healthy, happy and don't look too bad for a 35 yr old mom of three kids. My before/after pictures are in my profile-feel free to take a peek I am now maintaining the loss while still enjoying all the foods I like-still eating fast food 3-4 times a week, still eating cookies almost daily, still healthy and I'm definitely happy eating this way :drinker:0 -

for the love of god please don't go there..
so you are saying that I can eat "quality" food and be 1000 calories a day over maintenance and not gain a pound??????0 -
