I own two. The basic Hip Hop Abs and the 5 Minute Abs. I like it. It's fun and different but really makes you sweat.

It's a nice break from the routine for me so I keep them handy.

I HAVE SOMe oh sorry,, heh They are fun fun fun.
  • I've now tried, slim in 6, insanity, turbofire, 30 day shred, zumba, and hip hop abs. all i can say is that hip hop abs is by far the best and STILL is the best even though it was the first one i ever did. insanity is my second favorite but is NOT for people out of shape.

My son recently purchased hip hop abs. I am an almost 55 year female, in decent shape 5'4" - 120 lbs. Will I be able to do this or should I stick with something more traditional (boring)?
  • Yes, DO IT! As I just responded to mk, ALL the Beachbody programs show you how to modify if you can't do all the moves. It's great for all ages. And the music is 'hoppin' :-)

Day 3 was the ab sculpt - tuck, tilt and tighten. Why do I feel like a porn star doing some of this. I love it! Maybe, I should have learned these moves when I was younger.

Will be starting "Hip Hop Abs with Shaun T. Where can I find out how many calories I burn doing the exercises?
  • i just love it.. i just gave birth five month ago and feeling like a fat cow.. i started 2 weeks ago and still going, yet the scale hasn't moved much yet - too soon- but it reshaped my body in no time and really boosted my mood... love it..love it.. love it..

and yes totally different from the regular boring routine.. it's fun
  • yes totally.. it's not that hard for a beginner.. if you felt tired at any point rest for a minute or even half a minute and continue.. take it slowly till your body becomes more flexible and routine easier

Last day of my 2 months of Hip Hop Abs so I've lost a total of 7-inches, & 6lbs  I think that's ok but I know I can do better :ohwell: so I'm going to pause & start over in August.
  • I bought HHA months ago and just started it yesterday. I had the bariatric surgery two years ago and have been stuck for about 8 months. The surgery got rid of my diabetes and I;ve lost 70 lbs. I decided to lose the last 45 lbs, I NEED to exercise. Shaun T is so cute and funny. He makes you feel like you can stick with it. Two days down and I feel great. It is fun and gives me a boost to keep me going. Ab sculpt tomorrow. I can't wait! I am trying to find out how many calories are burned so I can add to my daily exercise. I am just guessing: but for cardio, I think a good rule is 1 calorie a minute??? For the ab sculpt, I think I will keep it at 300 burned. If it's more, better for me.

Diet and exercise are the best way to get where you are going.... Luck to all! :flowerforyou:

not to rain on yal's parade..but eating a calorie deficit and lifting heavy will reveal more of your abs then 'hip hop abs' or any of the other programs out there claiming to spot reduce….

Abs are made in the kitchen.

    so save your money :)

if you eat at a calorie deficit in union with exercise, I dont see why any program wouldn't work! I think what he is saying, and I too, "you have to work at it"! And eventually intensify any workout regimen. I'm currently doing hip hop abs myself, love it, easy to follow. Its a great starter program I will say that.

No, I am saying that Hip Hop Abs is not going to do anything for you abs. I just think that if you want "abs" you will be much better off eating in deficit, hitting macros, and focusing on have lifting with compound movements….

I believe its good for activity, Hip Hop "Abs" goes a little over board, Its a workout DVD, how much can you expect.....

OK …but it still does zero for "abs"….

I know plenty of shredded people with six packs who do not even train their abs…I only train mine once a week with weighted movements….the rest is all compound movements and diet.

I love Hip Hop Abs too! I have been doing this for 2 months and have lost weight and inches. I am not particularly hoping to just shape up my abs. It's an overall good workout. Cardio, sculpting, etc. It works your arms, legs, thighs, butt…. Shaun T is so motivating too!

Hip Hop Abs is fun, but after awhile I got bored with it. So I am switching it up between that and other workouts. But I have lost weight and inches because of HHA and will continue to use it along with MFP.

LOL!!! I have HHA and it IS a lot of fun and you do get a good workout. No results yet, but I'm still giving it a go.
Slim in 6 is another good workout, but becomes very boring!
