It isn't all about calories in/out. It's about the QUALITY of food we eat! Yes, one can maintain a specific weight eating fast food 5 days a week but you compare their overall health to someone choosing whole foods/not processed, I am sure you will see a difference.

Well, since you asked :bigsmile:
SW: 175lbs bmi 28.2 and glucose number in pre-diabetic range
Decided to lose the weight on the recommendation of my doctor, to avoid diabetes (which many of my overweight family members have and I've lost one grandfather to it, losing my grandma to it now). I began learning about portion sizes, how calories work and breaking bad eating habits (like mindless evening snacking). Continued to eat the foods I liked, within these new parameters, and lost almost 60lbs (around 50lbs were lost with no exercise either). What I ate: fast food several times a week, 'processed' foods, snack type foods like chips and cookies, and then also things like veggies, whole grains, eggs etc etc. I did NOT cut out any foods I liked, just learned how to eat them in a responsible way.
CW: 117-120lbs is my maintenance range/bmi in 19 range/bf% is around 17%/ glucose number is solidly in the normal range/full blood panel is pretty much perfect, including no longer being considered high risk for type 2 diabetes; very low risk for heart disease, blood pressure is spot on etc etc etc.
I'm healthy, happy and don't look too bad for a 35 yr old mom of three kids. My before/after pictures are in my profile-feel free to take a peek I am now maintaining the loss while still enjoying all the foods I like-still eating fast food 3-4 times a week, still eating cookies almost daily, still healthy and I'm definitely happy eating this way :drinker:0 -

Threads like this make my head hurt. Good thing I don't really like McDonald's so I rarely go there anyway. But one of the best things about MFP is that no food is demonized. I'm here for a sustainable lifestyle change, and sustainable ain't gonna happen if my favorite foods are forbidden. I'd rather focus on how they can fit into an overall healthful plan.0
