Anyone else find it ironic that 2/3 people in America are overweight or obese when a FREE app exists that makes losing weight so easy? This supposed "epidemic" could be ended if people spent 5-10 minutes a day tracking their macros. A lot of people think I'm weird for tracking every day, but I just can't understand why anyone wouldn't do it! Just thought I'd share my $0.02.

the app does not make you lose weight. you lose weight. plenty of people don't lose weight on here and plenty lose weight elsewhere. keeping track doesn't work for everyone0

Good in theory but you have to want to do something about it in the first place.
Strange when you think that 5-10 minutes in front of the computer can actually aid you in losing weight! Everyone just assumes that the longer you spend on your bum in front of the computer the fatter you will get...0 -

Maybe these people are not aware of the application and/or maybe they do not care for losing weight; I don't think it's that ironic. I agree that people find it weird that I track calories... But now I think people who don't track are weird0 -
Lots of fat people are just gonna stay fat. It is nice that this site offers a useful, free application to help us.0

No. App or no free app, the portion sizes that you guys serve up are often crazy. And that is coming from a Brit....0 -
The normalization of obesity is part of the problem; when no one wants to talk about the problem, it just festers. The point about portion sizes is absolutely true. My wife, who is Russian, has often brought up the fact that she has never, ever seen as many obese people (and children) as she has seen in North America.
Short term pleasure and a complete lack of understanding of the basics of nutrition (and cooking skills, we might add!) are also to blame!0 -
I lost the weight without MFP-weight loss and maintenance is on you (general you). You can have all the tools in the world at your disposal, but if you're not willing to make the commitment to follow through, then nothing will change. I know several people who know about MFP/have/had accounts. They're still overweight and making no progress because they're not committed, at this time in their lives, to losing the weight :ohwell:0

Preaching to the choir! I think a lot of people are in denial. They just don't realize how much they are eating. I remember years ago when I first joined Weight Watchers, I couldn't believe how many points one little piece of brownie was! I actually cried. I had no idea how much I was eating until I had to track it all. That makes you THINK about what you are eating.0
