MapMyFitness Vs Machine Calorie Count Vs MFP

60 Minutes, Interval Setting, Resistance 8

Elliptical Machine says Almost 600 Calories
MapMyFitness says 960 Calories
MyFitnessPal says 800 Calories

I log most of my workouts on MapMyFitness and it automatically syncs over to MFP. I don't know why these two would be different as they are using the exact same info to determine.

But what about the machine? That is a HUGE difference.

I am going to have to buy a HRM.

HRM is the way forward. For now I'd go with the lower calorie burn, just to be on the safe side.

What does "60 Minutes, Interval Setting, Resistance 8" mean?

If running for 60 minutes... depends on how far you went.

    Could you elaborate....

By the way, I used Runkeeper, similar to MMF and now use a Garmin GPS watch which does the same thing. Calorie burn on there seems to work fine

I don't really know how else to explain...
    Worked out for 60 minutes
    Setting: on interval
    Resistance of 8

    Total distance 5.1 miles

It wouldnt. Apologies, I sort of ignored this.

I dont know what resistance of 8 means as I dont use the machines.

As a guideline, you will realistically lose 90-130 calories per mile from running in the street, depending on your speed. With treadmills, not so much as they do some of the work for you. So assuming you are running 6-7 miles per hour, I would say around 600-700.

Not sure if that's of any use....

In my experience, it doesn't. Great burn on the ellip. continued success.

Why is "Resistance of 8" such a mystery to you all?? She was on an elliptical... you can adjust the workload/resistance.
