My name is Carmen, I'm 21 years old and I just have a baby 7 months ago.
During my pregnancy I gain 77 pounds and I still have 32 to lose.
Im 5'4 and I want to weight 125 pounds again.
I eat 1,200 calories per day but I eat breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack
and I also drink over 16 cups (8oz) of water everyday.
I do 30 to 40 minutes of cardio (Air Climber) everyday.
I started MFP journey on Jan/16/2014 and I already lost 13 pounds.
I just want to know what I'm doing wrong?
How come I'm not loosing any more weight
If I'm doing exactly the same thing I was doing before.
Thanks for your answers
and have a great day!

What's the rush!0 -
Oh, your weight loss stopped.
I guess that the weight you initially lost was water weight. That's why it was so fast. So now you are starting to lose actual fat. That just takes longer. 1 or 2 pounds per week is normal. Weigh yourself again in 2 weeks and see if you still haven't lost anything.0 -
13lbs in less than 3 weeks is huge!
Keep in mind that weight loss is not linear - you won't lose the same amount every day or even every week. Various things like water retention, hormone fluctuations, etc can make the scale go up or down, or stand still for a time. You may lose 2lbs one week, nothing the next, and then 3lbs down, then 1lb up!
You need to look at overall progress over time. And take measurements as well as weighing yourself, you will often see results there when the scale isn't moving.0 -

That can be probably impossible to answer...All we can say if the average loss is 1-2lbs /week so lets calculate that..you've lost about 6-13 weeks worth of weight in 2 weeks0 -
Thirteen pounds in 2 weeks is very fast. It seems that you are doing everything correctly. As you get closer to your goal weight, you will start to lose weight slower because there is not as much weight to lose. Continue to eat how you are eating and exercise and the weight will come off.
I'm rushing because I'm tired of people telling me how fat I am
or how skinny I used to be... I dont even like to see myself in the mirror.

With 32 pounds left to lose, a healthy, reasonable rate of loss would be 1 pound per week. You're losing extremely fast having already lost 13 pounds in the 2.5 weeks you've been here - that's like over half a pound per day!
So I guess the question (besides what's the rush as asked previously) is what makes you think your'e not losing fast enough?
If it's a matter of not losing as fast as you were in the beginning... You probably made drastic enough changes in diet to account for that. Also, if you're breastfeeding, that burns more calories as your body is working extra to produce milk (300-500 extra calories per day). All of that adds up to a slightly faster rate of loss than you're currently experiencing. Even without the pregnancy, it's perfectly normal to lose weight faster in the beginning and lose slower as you get closer to goal.
Take deep breaths, stop putting so much pressure on yourself!
ETA - saw your response about people's comments. Wow...I hope you tell them to keep their rude comments to themselves! You just had a baby - what do they expect, a miracle?!0 -
Ok now everthing is making sence.

a quick google of a bmr calculator said you needed 1476 calories. but its only one bmr calculator there are heaps online....0

As for comparing your current weightloss to what you were doing before...you aren't a teenager anymore!
If you mean you lost 13 pounds in a week or two and now have slowed, that is normal. The first couple of weeks you release water that was making you feel bloated, clean out your bowels a bit and otherwise let go of excess weight that isn't actually fat. Now you are concentrating on the fat.0 -

I thought BMR is how much you burn if you were in a coma so you may want to have acaorie intake above that.0 -
Thanks. You make me feel better about my self0

Sometimes you will plateau and stay at that weight for a bit, and then it will gradually come off more.
Just keep going and be patient, it will pay off0 -
That make sence. Thanks for responding my topic0
-
I will do that! thank you0

Thanks. You make me feel better about my self
Youre okay, Ive lost 46lbs within a year and now stalling...it happens. I know it will come off eventually but we all get frustrated with that mean monster called FAT!!! :flowerforyou:0 -
You've only been at it for a couple of weeks. Sustained weight loss takes time. 1-2 pounds per week is the normal amount, so you're already losing way faster than most people. If you want to keep the weight off, you can't rush. Keep doing what you're doing and you'll get there.0
-
No need to be in such a hurry, it took your 9 months plus to put the weight on, taking it off slowly will be much easier. It also sounds like your weighing yourself everyday. Just pick one day and weigh yourself, you'll know how your doing by the way your clothes fit. Plus you need to be a healthy for your little one.0

Most importanty, who gives a flip what anyone else says. The only person that matters what they think of you is YOU. That's it. Weight loss takes time. You got this.0 -
Look into www.advocare.com/11102391 it is what helped me get over a plateau! I lost 16 lbs and 18 total inches in 24 days on their 24 day challenge!
No. Just no.
No need for "supplements".
Eat at a deficit. Work out. With your breast feeding and working out, you may need to up your calories just a little bit. See my other post and read the first one it'll explain why I say this.0 -
Thanks for your respond0

You've gotten lots of great responses that I scrolled through quickly but I didn't see anyone mention nursing. Congrats on the baby! 7 months is a fun age! But, if you are breastfeeding your baby you should be making sure you get at least an extra 500 calories a day. Your body might not be letting you lose weight because it is saving your calories for the baby! And - nursing is a great way to lose the baby weight!
I still think you should be proud of your weight loss - it is coming off fast!
Congrats and good luck!0 -
You are doing great. 1 pound per week is a good healthy rate to lose. And agree that if you are breastfeeding your baby, make sure you are getting enough calories for nutrition.0
