Exhaustion

Hi I just started this journey again after taking two years off. My problem this time is I get exhausted after 4 days of working out. I do mostly cardio but it is on the treadmill. I will warm up for two minutes, then bump it up to incline of 10 with speed of 3.4 for two minutes then drop it back to 5 incline for two I repeat this cycle for 30 minutes. On the days I am in the office I walk on my lunch hour for two miles, then try to come home to do another intense cardio on the tread mill. Yet after 4 days of during this and sometimes doing weights when I get home I am exhausted on the 5 day.

My questions is should I be bumping up my calories, I am currently at 1200 attempting to lose 50lbs total have lose 18 this far.

seems like you are overtraining a bit. Bump up the calories and get some more sleep
  • EAT MORE TO LOSE MORE!! I agree, sometimes I overdo it at the gym and I get totally wiped out. Take a rest day every 2-3 days. Calculate your BMR and TDEE (iifym.com) and stick to a higher calorie goal with macro goals. I eat 1600 calories a day, workout 4-5 times per week and have been losing for 6 months now.
  • On average get about 8 hrs of sleep if my husband is not snoring. Maybe I am pushing too hard to fast.

Set your MFP goal to lose 1 pound a week. How many calories does it give you to eat? Eat some more for exercise. MFP does not include exercise in its calculations for you to lose weight, you would lose weight by diet alone on this amount, you need to eat more for exercise.

Given the level of exercise you are getting it seems to me you aren't eating enough. Your body is likely going into starvation mode and your metabolism is slowing to conserve energy sjaykay13 is giving good advise. Weight loss is not a sprint it's a marathon :)
Bear in mind since you do a lot of strength training as well as cardio you may not hit your goals. a goal of waist size, BMI etc may be a smarter target than weight alone since muscle is heavier than fat)

It says to eat 1620 calories a day based on my BMR and TDEE, maybe I will try that to see if I can continue loosing and working out. I love to work out so on the days I can't I feel guilty

    This

Also, if you're exhausted, sleep more and do less exercise.

Listen to your body -- working out when exhausted is just going to lead to injury. If you're wiped out, just do a stretching session to keep in the groove.

Are you netting 1200 (1200 after crediting for exercise) or are you eating 1200 and then exercising on top of that? If the second, you definitely need to eat more -- your body's out of fuel.

This all assumes that you're actually exhausted (i.e., you're even more tired after working out than before). I often find that I'm tired as crap after a day at the office, and working out wakes me up. That's not exhausted -- that's just the reality of sitting on my butt all day.

I eat my exercise calories back, it is exhaustion on day 5, no energy body feels like it is going to shut down on me

Why don't you take rest days, or active rest days. Work out hard every other day and work out lighter on alternate days.

Like a light day of cardio, then a hard cardio with weight training then back to light cardio the next? I can try that as well, that way I am still exercising

What are you doing for weight training? Heavy weights require rest days for muscle repair.
