New member, needs to lose weight.

Hi everyone. I'm excited about joining my fitness pal. I feel like I'm at the end of my rope. Having a hard time controlling my appetite and I make poor food choices. I hope to find some encouragement, and maybe I can be an encouragement to someone one day. I need to lose 50 pounds. I just started this week trying to modify my diet. I have not yet incorporated exercise but I hope to soon. :happy:

Thank you all so much! I'm feeling good about this already. I will start walking. I work in a hospital 12 hr shifts so I'm thinking about going up and down the stairs during break time.0

FP for me, on and off member for years. Get a cheap pedometer or download an ap like RunKeeper if you have a smartphone. I agree with what other have said about exercising every day, get your heart going for 20 to 30 minutes if you can. If you can't take that right now, do what you can. Even 5 to 10 minutes of a brisk walk is a lot better than sitting on the couch
That said, there is a motto a fitness bud told me log ago "You earn muscle in the gym but you lose weight in the kitchen." Make some healthy resolutions and try to stick with them. The easiest one I recommend is do not eat from any place that makes a majority of their money from fried foods OR has a cartoon character as a mascot. This just eliminates the temptation, period.
