O.O Green Tea Confusion O.O

Hello everyone,
I have started drinking green tea everyday instead of coffee, but I had a question. They say that I should drink 3 cups a day, does that mean 3 bags of green tea? Does it matter how much hot water I add? So if I put a tea bag and add let's say 2 cups of water to it, does that count as 2 cups of green tea or 1 cup since it's just 1 bag? I don't want to be drinking too much caffeine, lol!

Thanks!

I would assume 1cup = 1 bag. In the UK when we say 'a cup of tea' it's a term for a serving, not a volume measurement. And who is 'they'? Can 'they' clarify if a cup is just a one bag serving, regardless of water volume?

If you have 3 bags in 3 cups or in 1 cup of water it doesn't make a difference about caffeine, you're still getting the same quantity. If you avoid coffee and other caffeinated products 3 cups of tea a day shoudln't go over your caffeine need for a day, but you need to try it out and see what happens. I'd suggest having 3 cups of water anyway, so it'll be more diluted.

You can drink as much or as little green tea as you like. Why are are specifically looking to drink 3 cups? What are you expecting from the tea?

Generally a cup of tea, like the last poster said,is a serving. Not a measurement. Really, just translate it to mean a mug of tea. You use one teabag per mug.

    Hey everyone,
    Thanks for your replies!
@bio_fit "They" are all the people who told me about drinking green tea or from what I've read online. Unfortunately, I tried researching to see if anyone knew, but it remained a vague answer of "drink 3 cups a day", lol.

@Eleonora91 That's what I think as well! Diluting it would up my intake of water and fill me up more anyway, so far it's being going well.

@SweeDecadence The thing is I never drank coffee or tea before. I just don't like them and never got the point especially since even after drinking a cup of coffee it never affected my energy levels or "woke" me up like it's known to do. I read a lot about how green tea can increase your metabolism and it has a lot of antioxidants and wherever I read people suggested taking 3 cups a day for optimal results. Who wouldn't want a boost to their metabolism, lol! I've been drinking it for about 3-4 days now and I just feel a lot more satisfied with my meals than before. I generally drink a "cup" about 30-60 minutes after each main meal.

I drink green tea as my main water source. I brew about 10-15 bags into a HUGE pitcher and add some Splenda + honey to it, then refrigerate it.

Haven't got sick in a few years.

Drink as much as you enjoy.

If you see my dairy, I am a tea-a-holic. I try to mix it up with decaf and caffeince. Anyway, 1 teabag is 1 cup butI do dilute it to 2 cups water. That's what I was told by a tea aficianado. LOL
