Jumpstarting Weight Loss? Ideas & Inspiration Needed!

I'm currently 175 pounds. 5'7". I've been back on the weight loss wagon for the past 10 days, and I think I've been doing very good. I'm under my calories almost every day, I exercise heavily twice/week and do weights/push-ups/squats 5 times/week. I'm drinking more water, eating fresher and healthier foods, and not snacking unless I really need a little extra food (even then, my snacks have been string cheese, whipped PB & apples, or 1 serving of Popped Chips - so nothing horrible).

The issue is that I've been doing this for 10 days now, and at first it went well. I dropped a pound very quickly, and that kept me motivated. Now, I weighed myself today and.....I GAINED the pound back! :( I understand that this could be do to many, many different factors (PMS/period, muscle gain, taking anxiety/depression meds, etc etc etc), but it's just so unbelievably frustrating and is getting me down.

I'm getting married in September, and I really just want to feel good about myself and my body by then. It would be such a shame to work so hard and not see results in my physical and mental health.

I guess I'm looking for inspiration, ideas, or ways others have jumpstarted their weight loss. I don't want this feeling to linger. I just want to move past it and keep myself on track. :( It's so hard when I don't see any results on the scale, so any and all comments/suggestions are welcome!!!!

Take measurements. Take pictures. Make sure to eat at least your BMR as "net" calories. Don't weigh yourself.

It just... happens. Keep eating at deficit, be sure to count calories as accurately as you can and you should be losing pounds one at a time.

I've wondered this in the past....but is it bad to not eat up to my suggested calorie intake? For example, I think I should be eating around 1400 cals/day, but I've been staying under that for the most part. It's hard to think that eating MORE could help me lose, but could that be the case?

Its only been 10 days....it was only one lb...IT WASN'T MUSCLE....most likely you lost water weight and you gained it back. Without more information I cannot offer anything more besides this:

You are in charge of your motivation. The only one that can motivate, educate and get you going is you. There are no true jumpstarts. You just change you....wake up and say, today I am waking up and going to eat better and move more. Take measurements this day, photos, analyze how your clothes fit. Don't go by just the scale...it is a big fat liar! You may fall, you may stumble...but tell yourself that is temporary and get the F@ck back up and do it all again. Keep going....not because someone else is motivating you but because you have promised yourself that you would do this for you, for your health!

Educate yourself on BMR and TDEE. You don't want to eat above your TDEE and don't go below your BMR. YES it is bed....your health suffers eating below BMR.

I think you are going in too hard and fast especially with the exercise. You will get burned out and frustrated. Plus you could have added muscle weight. All your weight took time to add on, it will take time to come off. You don't want it too go fast.(would be great but) 1 -2 lbs. a week would be safe. You will have days that you bounce up, many factors(water weight, hormones etc.can effect it. They will go away. Certain foods with a lot of salt will cause water retention. Take your time. be patient, don't give up!

All the reasons you gained a pound are possible except for one. Good luck gaining a pound of muscle in 10 days on a deficit, or even not in a deficit. Don't put to much into a scale. No matter how fit you are the scale is going to fluctuate Try this site to take your body measurements. It will log them for you and you can check your progress whenever you want. It takes all your measurements from head to toe, literally. About 11 places over all. ( http://www.healthehuman.com/features/body-measurement-tracker ) Good luck to you

NO NO she could NOT have gained muscle weight in 10 days eating at a deficit or otherwise. It is against SCIENCE!

Maybe Dr. Oz's cleanse would work for you?

Yes, it's "bad." As in you can do more long-term harm than good.

This is good advice. If I were to add to this it would be; Find the smallest change in your nutritional habits that could produce the biggest positive change. Once you have that under control move on to the next small change for the biggest possible change and so on. To many times people oversell themselves on a " New Lifestyle or Journey" and get burned out and quit. Its only been 10 days.
