DREADED PLATEAU...UGH!!!

So, I'm going on week 5 with no change in the scale...oh, it will bump up and down a few pounds, but still sitting on 208-209 every day and it's GETTING OLD!

I've lost 67 lbs since May 2013...and haven't changed much. Still eating between 1000-1200 cals / day, <40 gms carbs, >70 gms protein, drinking 100+ oz H20, no alcohol, no sugar, and hitting the gym daily - walking intervals, jogging, yoga, pilates, stationary bike, weight 3-4 days / week. (Even my trainer says I should be smaller than this based on my intake / efforts)...gee thanks.

Somebody PLEASE give me something to go on, I'm getting BEYOND frustrated!

You're eating 1000-1200 calories per day? That seems low to me and it could be why you're stuck.

Congrats on your weight loss so far. Have you spoken to your trainer about possible increasing your calories. You seem to be doing everything right, only thing I can think is you may need to be eating more

    Good luck!!!!!

Is that 1000-1200 cals Per day net or total? Whichever, it's a really low amount of calories to be eating for 8 months and your metabolism is probably protesting. Read this: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/3047-700-calories-a-day-and-not-losing

I think you need to up your calories. It should never be less than 1200. Try aiming for 1200-1300.

^ This most likely. There's a time when your body will just say enough. Fairly common with long, drastic dieting. You're best off bumping your calories up for about a week, maybe close to maintenance, give your body time to replenish, and slowly drop calories again.

Yes, I've talked to my trainer about it - and he keeps telling me the same thing, but I cannot wrap my head around eating more...if that makes sense...He wants me up around 1800 cals (intake) daily...yikes - NO WAY!

I'd agree with 1800. That's still below the RDA. You won't gain weight and you'll give your body a MUCH needed break and restoration from your journey.

I agree as well! If it makes you feel better I eat over 2000/day and lost weight doing so...

Gosh - I just don't get that...I mean, the basic math is always calories in vs. calories out (yes, I'm well aware that's not the case)...but I guess the general consensus is to up the cals...definitely worth a try, I guess! Thanks!

Yes but you can't continue on for a long time with a very high calorie deficit for all the reasons stated in the linked post.

I agree with the others that you should up your cals. But just don't freak out if you see an initial little weight gain. Give it a good try before throwing your hands up and saying 'see, I knew it wouldn't work' if you gain a couple of pounds in the first week. It will come off again, and more.

Yeah as weird as it sounds bumping up the cals a bit will probably do the trick. I kind of stalled out when I was eating about 1600 a day and when I bumped it up to 1800-2000 for a while I started losing again. Now I basically aim for 1600-1900 and I just stay in there.

I understand how frustrated you are! I would also increase the cardio versus the pilates and strength training. Cardio burns more calories. I think if you keep up what you're doing then it will come off.

Yeah, that sounds about right. Make sure you're logging your food accurately. A lot of the data on here is inaccurate, so check labels when possible. Weigh your food. I eat 1,750-1,850 and lose. I'm 5'3" and 141lb's. If you're heavier than me, you'll definately burn more. So you could increase to ATLEAST 1,800.
