Having a bad day

Today, I hit my 100lb lost mark - I should be thrilled, but my company uploaded a video I feature in today that was only filmed this week, and all I can think is that I still look the size of a house!! It's just depressing! Could use some help to stop me reaching for the crisps today please! :(

Reaching for the crisps ain't gonna fix it. You will feel worse and then on top of that all your hard work will be ruined and your goal will be further away. Judging by your profile pic you look great. You should be proud of your accomplishments so far.
  • Thank you! I keep trying to tell myself it was bad camera angles, and I should just write it off - I actually just locked my purse in a drawer, and gave the key to my colleague so I am not tempted by the office cafeteria!

Also, 323lb lost?! That is AMAZING!!!!!!!

No worries and thanks. Just make sure she doesn't go home with the key. Lol. I use to do the same, I would look in the mirror and get upset because that day I didn't like how I looked. I would go on massive binges, and then all iv done is take steps backwards. Your profile picture is a great example of you great work.
  • If she did go home with the key, that might be a good thing - I could consider the walk home as an extra workout! :)

You look AMAZING girl. Keep up the great work. Just keep healthy snacks with you and a very large bottle of water. Every time that you think about going off the wagon drink 5 swallows of water. Before long you will be full and wont need the crap that you want to eat. Keep on the positive side. You will get through this.

Just remember that there are always going to be knocks to our pride/sense of accomplishment. This is a life-long journey, and the world is sometimes a crappy place, so there's always going to be a dumbass who insults us, the unflattering photo/vid, you name it. As others have said, it's crucial that we don't let this derail us from the journey! It's certainly not going to make us feel better in the long run. If you can't overcome the emotions with thought, could you channel it into something constructive? Rather than eating, for example, get in a really good workout and run out/punch out that frustration? (As an example.)

I think most of us have been raised such that to a greater or lesser degree, we self-medicate with food. (Who doesn't understand the term "comfort food"?) We reward ourselves and celebrate with food. (Anniversaries, promotions, birthday parties, Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc., etc.) For those of us who have an unhealthy relationship with food, it's probably better to move away from that idea. (Not that I'm advocating not enjoying good food at Christmas or Thanksgiving by any means! But I am thinking moderation.)

To borrow a quotation I heard from somewhere: "If the problem is not hunger, the solution is not food". You're doing awesome, and I think you know you are. 100 pounds lost is fantastic! But that doesn't mean the journey is over. We have to keep eating healthy and working out (or whatever version of that works for you) for ... ever, pretty much. Sometimes that's overwhelming and it seems easier to let the negative energy overwhelm us.

But even if you don't feel that you looked great in that video, you can probably agree that you looked better than you did before, right? And if you keep eating healthy, then think how much better again you'll feel that you look in six months or a year. Don't undo your good progress!

Keep at it, let your mind catch up to the changes in your body, and enjoy all the benefits of a healthier weight and a slimmer body!

you should keep a picture of you at your heaviest where you can see it every day. I am sure you are seeing yourself now at your current weight and not really seeing change. I am sure you have changed a lot. 100 lbs is a huge accomplishment. Keep it up and you will be where you want to be. I am sure you feel a lot better 100 lbs lighter too.
