19 Hard Things You Need To Do To Be Successful

I don't normally post such *kitten*, but I really liked this... http://luthas.com/2014/01/15/19-hard-things-you-need-to-do-to-be-successful/

You have to do the hard things.

1. You have to make the call you’re afraid to make.
2. You have to get up earlier than you want to get up.
3. You have to give more than you get in return right away.
4. You have to care more about others than they care about you.
5. You have to fight when you are already injured, bloody, and sore.
6. You have to feel unsure and insecure when playing it safe seems smarter.
7. You have to lead when no one else is following you yet.
8. You have to invest in yourself even though no one else is.
9. You have to look like a fool while you’re looking for answers you don’t have.
10. You have to grind out the details when it’s easier to shrug them off.
11. You have to deliver results when making excuses is an option.
12. You have to search for your own explanations even when you’re told to accept the “facts.”
13. You have to make mistakes and look like an idiot.
14. You have to try, fail and try again.
15. You have to run faster even though you’re out of breath.
16. You have to be kind to people who have been cruel to you.
17. You have to meet deadlines that are unreasonable and deliver results that are unparalleled.
18. You have to be accountable for your actions even when things go wrong.
19. You have to keep moving towards where you want to be no matter what’s in front of you.

You have to do the hard things. The things that no one else is doing. The things that scare you. The things that make you wonder how much longer you can hold on.

Those are the things that define you. Those are the things that make the difference between living a life of mediocrity or outrageous success.

The hard things are the easiest things to avoid. To excuse away. To pretend like they don’t apply to you.

Agree! I love my sleep ... sometimes I think I'd rather sleep in than be successful

I will take #2 if you will take #1. I hate talking on the phone and always have. My heart rate goes up and I get so anxious. I rather see people in person than talk over the phone.

Some good points. Especially the ones about making mistakes. I think a lot of people hold themselves back by needing to be right all the time.

this is normal stuff for anyone who wants to grow and that is motivated......don't see anything I haven't done or am not currently doing everyday.

Exactly, but not everyone realizes that or follows through.

I think this post is a good reminder for some and a nice place to start for others.
  • Some really good stuff here, thanks for sharing.

It would be better if it addressed how to handle pooping yourself in public... true.

    Oh, and this... cause... awesome.

I dunno....in theory all these things make sense, but who defines "success"?
Plus, how many times do you have to try, fail, and try again before you can be successful?...will it be worth the effort and multiple failures in the end??
Will being kind to people that are cruel to you really make you successful or just a sucker that gets screwed in the end?

Again, I agree with a lot of these things, I often tell my son that he should do the things that make him feel uncomfortable, to take the road less travelled now and then; but in the end, if somebody is truly happy....that sounds like success to me, no matter how they got there.

So inspirational, yet I feel that punch in the gut when I read through the list.

I can't always be kind to people who are cruel to me, particularly if they are cruel and stupid. Professional? Sure. Kind? Not so much.

Yeah... there's definitely an exception to be taken with that one *LOL* A couple people I know just need an *kitten* whoopin, end of story.

I'd like to add, you have to be hungry even when there is food all around you.
