5 years ago I had surgery for a tumor on my spine. after surgery I could not walk, I could not feel my left leg. the doctors put me on nerve medication lyrica. between this and inactivity I gained 60 lbs. within a year. At approx. 1.5 years post surgery I decided that when I was bending over to tie my shoes turning red and having a hard time breathing it was time to do something. (I was able to walk with a bad limp by this time) I started walking on my 1 hr lunch break. I walked with a friend who also needed to loose some weight. We started off walking 1 mile in an hour. I changed my eating habits to a yogurt for breakfast, a lean cuisine or healthy choice meal for lunch, no more soda drinking just water, then a regular dinner that I made for my entire family. If I got hungry for a snack I ate carrot sticks or celery. I lost 50 lbs within 7-9 months. I still carry 10 extra pounds I want to loose. I still don't drink soda, but in the event of winter I have lost control of eating habits, eating a lot of comfort food. I am very excited about this (myfitnesspal) to help me monitor what the heck I am or am not doing.

I too was on Lyrica for 4 months for nerve damage and put on 25 lbs
I have been off it for a month now. I am on low carb diet no sugar or starch since Jan 1 and walking 5 days a week
Weight loss minimal but losing fat and inches
Think Lyrica is stalling progress as never been so hard to lose before!0
