Hair loss

My God, I cannot explain how much my hair is falling out recently! My hair is everywhere and its really making me feel down. I'm going to the doctors today to get some lotion for it and will purchase two shampoos tomorrow; Alpecin and Vatika with egg protein! I am also going to start to eat fruit and vegetables every single day! Has anyone else suffered from hair loss?

Yes I have. When I started to lose weight my hair strted getting thinner and thinner and thinner - to the point I started seeing my skull. I went to my doctor, to a hair specialist, and 3 different dermatologists - and all of them said weight loss affects your hair. The more weight you lose the more hair you will lose. Its inevitable.0

What is your calorie intake? Dramatically low intake can lead to hair, muscle and bone density loss.0

Ask to have your iron levels checked. Hair loss is a symptom and you may have gone low through diet.0

Are you on a low fat diet by any chance?0

This. Low fat diets are usually accompanied with hair loss.0 -
Yep! Weight loss and hair loss does tend to happen. Mine was a bit worse because of the BC that I was on, but it definitely got worse when I started losing weight. I haven't stopped it completely, but I have found ways to keep it under control. As far as lotions and potions, I make a scalp oil that I use every night (kind of like a night cream for my scalp) and then add a bit of aspirin (for the bha) into my shampoo in the mornings and give my scalp a really good massage to get the dead skin off. I've also found that using A LOT of a really light conditioner makes my hair much stronger. Kind of like the way that people use Wen for co-cleansing, but with any conditioner you like. When brushing, start from the bottom of your hair, not the top. You'll pull less out.
As far as food, I lowered my carbs and upped my protein (30%) and fats (40%), and make sure to get all my iron, vitamin c, and b vitamins. Veggies definitely help that! Again, this didn't stop it completely and I can't say this will work for everyone. But it helped me a lot.0 -
Hair is over rated.

Honey, I feel bad for you. I really know how it feels as I lost most of mine when I took chemo. People can say what they want about being vain or it's not important, but until you are a female and experience it, you'll never know how hard it is. Good luck and I hope it stops.0

My hair definitely thinned out since I started losing weight, I eat enough calories but was not consuming enough fats. I have since added more healthy fats to my diet and also take biotin suppliments which seem to help!0
