So a weird thing happened at judo today...

My partner and I were talking about weight divisions for an upcoming competition. One of our instructors made a comment about us competing against each other and we all kind of laughed. Then another instructor said if we didn't want to fight each other, one of us would have to gain 30 pounds.

Welll.....guess how much weight I have lost in the past year? You got it - 30 lbs. The weird thing is when he said this, I did not give it a second thought until I was leaving for the night. And then it occurred to me that at about this time last year, I would have not have even been close to her weight class. But beyond that, it made me realize how easy it is for me to become accustomed to my weight. When I was overweight, I was just used to it. Now that I am back down to what I consider a good weight for me, I have obviously become very comfortable with it.

So, I don't really now what this is - a Scale Victory, a Non-Scale Victory, just a moment of self-realization...dunno. But it was kind of weird to me.

That's a great story--and it makes me miss judo. :)

I started when I was a kid but stopped when I hit about 18/19 years old - life got in the way. That is also when I started gaining weight. When I decided to get my butt back in shape last year, I knew that judo needed to be a part of it. I had lost most my weight when I finally went back...And oh man, did I realize how much I missed it. I would dream about judo and I could never actually get rid of my Gi even though I went years without going :)
