Losing Weight disproportionately

This is my first post on the forums, so please be nice :) Also take note that I've just started my fitness journey, and therefore don't really know what I'm doing (although I'm learning slowly). So I've been starting to do weight training with my older brother, who knows what he's doing and has been really helpful in getting me started. I've also been counting my macros/calories on MFP. I started two weeks ago, and can already see a difference in my muscle tone and health in general. I don't have a scale in my house, so I can't tell if I'm actually losing weight, but for me the most important thing is looking good and toned, more so than a number.

My problem is that when I try on my shorts (that didn't fit that well last summer) my thighs feel smaller and more toned, but my butt seems to be getting bigger? I've done two leg days so far, as well as other cardio/weight training which are with heavy weights and low reps so maybe I'm building muscle? It's just that my upper half is really small and my stomach is getting smaller as well as my thighs, but my butt literally looks disproportionate now compared with all of that. Is there a reason for this? Will it all eventually even out? I've always had a pear shape my whole life, but I would rather my butt get smaller/more toned rather than be lifted and stick out more.

I know this sounds really weird but I just want to look more proportionate, thanks!

First, although newbie gains of muscle are possible, they are unlikely to be that noticeable especially since you are a female. It takes a lot of work and time for a male to put on muscle, and you don't have the hormones to do it faster than a male. Unless you are using a measuring tape, perception in such a short period of time is likely to be wrong at least in part.

Second, fat comes off different parts of the body at different rates. Where that happens depends on the person. It is normal, just keep going.
  • It's not something so noticeable, just something that I can feel when I put on clothes. Maybe I'm just over thinking it, though. I'm afraid of gaining weight in that area so I might just be psyching myself out. Thanks for the advice! I'll keep doing what I'm doing and won't let it deter me!
  • Unfortunately, you cannot spot reduce. The fat will come off where it wants, even or not.

Fat is weird. It comes off wherever it feels like. We can't decide. :( Just keep lowering overall body fat % and sooner or later it will come off where you want.
  • Undoubtedly, losing weight is not an easy job. Different workouts effect on different parts. I believe that by working daily will effect more naturally on body rather than doing it at alternates. Losing weight from sports is an effective method which I am using nowadays. I learned relation between sports and losing weight from : WWW.Sportenenafvallen.net
