i try to eat my calories!

I try to eat the amount of calories that MFP recommends (without eating junk) But it's so much food! I'm eating like i always have just added working out and maybe eat a little less than before but I am not getting anywhere near my calorie goals.... They are way lower but I don't think I want to eat any more food a day! I already eat enough!

How did you get overweight if you can't eat 1200 cal?

I guess it was a few different things. I was smaller until about 20 I also did drugs/didn't eat hardly ever, then once I stopped doing the drugs I started to eat better (such as more calories a day) Not necessarily healthy but county cooked meals, at the time I did not count calories but I was eating about the same I eat now maybe a little less calories but different food ... When I was gaining this weight I also struggled with anxiety, But now I take meds for it and I guess my eating has gotten healthier but not less calories. I gained a lot of weight kinda quick I mean not that quick but I went from 140 to 200 within a year and then another 20lbs the next year.. idk it seems like there might be a underlying problem (health wise) I go back next Tuesday for my blood work but my big thing is should I be eating more if i'm not hungry but under my calories for the day that's the question I asked

Junk to me is food with a lot of sugar or any soda.

    Hey Crystal,

I noticed two trends in your diary...

    1. you have a number of days with 2 meals as opposed to three.
    2. you chose the "light" versions of quite a few foods.

I don't think anyone should eat when they are definitively not hungry, but it seems unusual that you can go so many hours without a meal! I think it's great you aren't forcing it, but maybe take a look at your lifestyle and see if you truly allow time to sit and eat those 3 square meals plus snacks. Sometimes I think we avoid meals because it seems like too much of a commitment or something.

Anyway, about the light foods, forgot them! You have the spare calories, so go for that full fat yogurt, the whole milk, the 100% juice vs the watered down versions. A lot of those dieter friendly foods are misleading anyway.

    Hope that helps?

I have a hard time believing anyone who managed to get overweight when they say that they can't consume 1200 calories, but I'll play along. Eat more calorie dense foods, Avocado, nut butters, full fat dairy, marbled steaks. 1200 calories for most of us is a decent meal, if you can't manage that in a day it's a mental block that's causing it, and you have an unhealthy relationship with food.
