Anytime Fitness
Just wondering: is anyone out there a member at Anytime Fitness? How does it compare to the bigger gyms? They've opened one near my home and I'm thinking about getting a membership.
I was considering Planet Fitness but I heard they have a "No Deadlifting" rule. Too bad because they seem to be the cheapest option. The one near me is very crowded.

Good luck! Let me know what you think!0 -
I was a member there for a year, until some of the other gyms in town dropped their rates and were much more affordable, I liked it a lot.0

I go to Anytime and love them! Nice facilities, good equipment, friendly and helpful staff. I feel very comfortable there, which for me says something. I've been to gyms before that quite honestly if you were even slightly overweight you were an outcast. I've not felt that at Anytime at all. That said, could just be the one that I go to, but I would recommend them. Also, if you join, after 30 days you can go to any of their locations, which if you travel at all is a nice plus.0

I use anytime fitness, good equipment. They regularly update it too. I like the fact I can go whenever I want0

I have an AF membership. I like them well enough. There are 3 locations in my town but I've only ever gone to my "home" gym - thinking about changing things up and trying one of the others soon, though, since they're all at least a mile from my house and the one I go to is actually the farthest from me (go figure). The membership is kind of expensive, but a lot of employers offer good discounts, and they also offer a 22% discount at the local nutrition store with the membership. Every club is a bit different from what I understand, but the basics are always going to be there. I say go for it.0

I have been a member of Anytime Fitness for 5 years. And I love it, it is big enough to workout how ever you want. And small enough to be friends with most of the other members. We are able to encourage each other to reach our goals.0

I have been a member of Anytime for a few years now. Majority of the people there just do cardio and I get the free weights to myself. I lift heavy and they do not mind. I am respectful and try hard not to drop the weights or make too much noise when dead lifting... (if that is even possible),. My current gym owner saw that I liked to lift heavy and bought a trap bar..
I have used 3 different Anytime gyms and each has been different. One of them had quite a few heavy lifters and even had some bumper plates available. One had a small free weigh area.
Go Check out the gym during the time that you plan on working out to get a feel for it.0 -
I wish they had an Anytime Fitness by my house. The YMCA is getting rediculously expensive!0

I joined up late last month - got several visits in before my trip & recovery (damn elbow). I so far like it, less crowded, real WEIGHTS, nice cardio machines that WORK w/ my HRM. Worst thing - no lockers @ mine, just cubicles to store things, not like it would be an issue. Mine has kick-boxing, Zumba & yoga, although I haven't checked into any of the classes. And it's twice what PF was (membership) but being closer to home, not as crowded and a real weight section was worth it.0

How much are your memberships? My coworker says they're $40 a month but I'm not sure what kind of membership he has (multi location? classes? etc)
I really like the idea of fresh new equipment. I got really sick one time and it put me off going to the gym for the longest time.0 -
this is what I was told at the one by me. im not sure if they are all the same? have to do a contract though :-( $29-24 months/ $33-18months/$38-12months.0

I've had a membership there for a little over 2 years. I got a deal for signing up before they opened my location and I pay $20/month as part of a family membership. I've never been a member of another gym as an adult so I can't compare to others, but I like it. I can go whenever I want (bonus for somebody working full time and in college), and it's never so busy I can't get on the machine I want. I like the room with the workout videos too, but lately they've been having lots of classes in there.0

I think each gym owner gets to set their price based on the market. Some include tanning and others have that as an add-on. Mine is $40/ month with a 12 month membership (including tanning which o think is a $5-$10 option at some)0

I go to Anytime Fitness and I love it there. It's clean, they keep the equipment updated, it's organized, and the members are awesome. My boyfriend and I go for $64 a month (for both of us, so $32/month each). We did a 2 year contract so it was a little cheaper.0

Make sure you go to the one near you and check it out first. The one by me is dirty all the time, and they don't take care of their equipment. The amount of free weights (or lack thereof) is sad, sad, sad.
The others that I have been to have been much better. I love that I was able to go to any Anytime Fitness when I was traveling, but I had to switch to another local gym based on the state of the one where I live.
They offer membership through my work for $12 every 2 weeks, automatically deducted. My daughter pays $40/month. I think they pretty much charge whatever they want.0
