Hey guys! I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who has posted their progress pictures! It is truly motivating to see all these before and after pictures, hear stories and that everyone has done it with HARD WORK. I've been on myfitnesspal for about a month now, and this is by far the best motivator. Last year in April I reached my all time high of 168(I've always been just a little chubby, my lowest weight was 120), may not sound like a lot to some, but I'm only 5'2 and very pear shaped! So in April I started low carb, and golfing and just doing that I got down to 145, then we move and bought a house in a new state, and I gained 4 pounds back (because I started carbs and sweets again!) so as my new years resolution I decided I didn't just want to lose weight, I wanted to get in shape, get fit, before we get married and have children. I am exercising, picking healthy portion size, I've cut out my diet coke altogether. And some days I don't think I can do it, but then I log on here, and see other people feel the same way and get thru it and come out on the other side looking FANTASTIC! So thanks to everyone here who give me the motivation to get to another day to a Fitter me! I'd loved to see some more progress pictures! So please post them!!!

You can do it! I have been on MFP for a long time, however I didn't ever commit to using it until this past month. I always bounced back and forth between this and Spark people, using both just gets to be too much, so I picked MFP to track everything, I still use spark people for information and articles. I love how motivating MFP is when you USE it. Good for you, I gave up pop (soda) just over a month ago, once I got past the first week I didn't even miss it, it doesn't even bother me at work (server). Same thing with processed sugar, I used to want a milkshake every time I ran one to a table, now it doesn't even phase me. I am the same height and my starting weight in Dec. was 195 so I have a ways to go. I have no idea what I weight now as my goal was to go one month without the scale when I started in Jan. I am going by measurements and energy right now, I tend to obsess over the scale number so I am trying to get away from that.

see my profile pic. I'm 5' 4 " , the left side I was 187 pds in 2004 ( my heaviest), the right side I was 132.4 pds in 2013. I am currently 124.8 pds. I have lost 35 pds in one year , thanks to MFP. You can do it! This system works!
  • The before/after pics are one thing I haven't done, but think I will based on this. I can see how they are an inspiration to others, but I think it would also be a motivator for me. While I'm well past worrying about having a "beach body", I do want to be able to go without a shirt in the summer and not have my jelly belly hanging out, ya know?

Ha! I know exactly what you mean, I live in a beach town, and everyone here seems to be so fit, as the chubby girl I really stick out!!!! So normally when I go to the beach it's in a dress or a skirt, that stays on the whole time. And I don't want to be that way anymore!
And every story on here is a inspiration to others! It really does help to see people who had success in their fitness journey, and to hear other people struggle with the same problems and feelings. And it's awesome, that everyone is focused on getting fit, not just getting skinny. Strong is the new skinny!!!

    Congratulations on your loss!

And I totally agree--the stories that everyone shares are all insprirational and help us to reach our goals. That's what's so great about MFP!

I live in a beach town, too, and I am tired of feeling like I need to cover up all the time, or sighing over the cute little lifeguard's figure as I try to wrap my sarong more firmly around my hips. I don't ever want to wear a bikini again (motherhood has given me many, many stripes) but I envision myself in a sexy cut-away one-piece that just shows a little extra skin. :)
