Garcinia Cambogia

Dr. Oz makes a living off of getting largely overweight females to believe there is some type of product that will magically make them able to fit into a new size of pants or wear a bikini for the first time in 15 years. While some of the products he reviews may HELP, he does not put NEARLY ENOUGH EMPHASIS on blood/sweat/tears.
I have used supplements in the past to help accelerate fat loss when a plateau was reached, but what works for some doesn't always work for me and vice versa.
I would take anything Dr. Oz says with a huge, Mt. Everest sized grain of salt. He did work for Oprah, after all.0 -
I've been taking it for a week and I've heard lots of negative responses to it so I want to share with you my experience:
Even though I've only been taking it for a little bit, I have already noticed a difference. My mood has been significantly improved, I'm sleeping better, my appetite has decreased, and I no longer have cravings or binges. It works so well that I have to force myself to eat. I just don't really have a desire anymore. Keep in mind I've only been taking about 1 pill a day (not 2 like it suggests) but I have been taking it as directed (30 min before a meal with 8 fl oz of water).
Any questions? Message me!
You should research those two topics.
As a college student in her senior year, yes, I know about both those things. But thank you for the sarcasm.0 -
My friend lost a ton of weight while taking it... I'm not at all convinced that it was what was in the pill that helped or the idea of it. I wouldn't waste your money but if you are so inclined the place where she bought her is vitacost and it was reasonably priced.0

Hey guys, what's the score in h...oh....

My sister is getting good results from it (lost 26 lbs) but she says it hurts her stomach even when she takes it with food. She says it controls her appetite and she doesn't exercise either.0
-
There is no basis for the claims that it aids weight loss (other than as a placebo)

I would use the money to guy a digital food scale if you do not already have one.0 -

I've been doing this too and exact same results; granted I have not taken either of the two pills; but I did increase my water intake and cardio. Hmmmm......wait.....are you supposed to take the pills?!? Oops.0 -

Don't really care. It helps me. And I thought you were a grown man... your maturity suggests otherwise. Oops!0 -

I bought a bottle of it for $45 off of PureFormulas.com. After watching the Dr. Oz show, I wrote down the criteria. He reiterated on the show that he does not endorse any products and that "if you see anything with my name or picture on it, don't buy it b/c I don't do endorsements." The criteria is
-Must be Garcinia Cambogia Extract
-At least 50% HCA
-Must have BOTH potassium & calcium for absorption
-Effective dosage begins at 1500mg-3000mg (the higher the dosage the more weight loss their is)
-Take on an empty stomach 30-60mins before a meal
-Must have 0 fillers, binders, or extra ingredients
It is shown to help with emotional eaters, helps with stress, acts as an appetite suppressant, and I think makes the body use stored fat as energy.
I've been taking the pills for about a week. The pills I take, from DeeCee lab, contain Super CitriMax (I didn't know they did the study using CitriMax), are 1500mg, have both potassium & calcium, and are veggie capsules. Plus it's Kosher. It has 60% HCA (says it's clinical strength). I don't expect it to be a miracle pill, I do exercise and after thanksgiving well....am getting back to eating right. When taking it my hunger does not go away, in fact I get hungrier. I don't think I stress out too much to begin so I don't notice a difference when it comes to stress (I think stress can be handled by the power of attitude & mind anyway). It actually does help me go to the bathroom more which is a plus b/c I'm not regular. After taking the pills sometimes I taste something citrus in the back of my throat. So far, I'm not discrediting this b/c it's only been 1 week. So I'm gonna keep taking it and may actually purchase another bottle after these 120 capsules are finished (and look around for a cheaper price w/ higher mgs). That's my 2 cents. I don't usually buy diet pills, but I'm sold on this one for now. If after a month I see no difference, then I'll stop taking them0 -
I saw the following link on the internet:

I wonder if anyone has any experience with this advertisement and the product offered. I am very close to trying Garcinia Cambogia, but I need some advice.

That is not an unbiased look at it - they sell the stuff.

Garcinia supplements are one of the best fat loss supplements. Problem is most of the brands are not real good. I would say just make sure the company is good and offers only the 60 percent HCA. If you pick a great brand then you will be pretty surprised by the results.0

Surprised would probably be most peoples first reaction!!0

You know what has been proven even more effective for fat loss? Eating at a calorie deficit.0 -

In to thank Sara for the link.
And to bemusedly ask how do the shills find these sorts of threads so quickly?!?!0 -
Not meaning to be shills, it's just the evidence points to the facts that this product only works on rats.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21569551
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15680676
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15200237
The facts also find clearly that the product has absolutely no benefits for weight loss in humans.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22530711
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11134690
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18729243
The only positives for the product is that 1) it's safe to take 2) there is an outside chance it helps aid gluconeogenesis in the liver.

I would suggest that the weight lost in any 4 day period is inconsequential and simply can't be used as support for, well, anything. Ever.0 -
I'm reading down through all of these posts about Garcinia Cambogia and Dr. Oz... and there is an advertisement for this very item at the bottom of the screen. MFP gives them space here, but they are bogus?? Glad I read this conversation board.0
