I don't understand and it makes me depressed...

I'm currently 117lbs and 5' 7" almost 8" and yet I'm still made to feel fat. I don't understand our society. I have curvy hips and people take one look at me and I don't understand why people want to shame others. I'm in shape, I eat healthy but for some reason because of my curves people think I'm this thundering monster. I'm tall yes, but I don't think I'm that bad. In my high school most of the girls are 5'4 and below and small , yet I'm given the impression that if I sit in a chair I'll break it. Anyone have this experience? Or advice? I suppose I'm just feeling down...

Hmmmm you live in one hell of a f****** up town then. At your weight and height I'd say bulk, lol.
You look great0 -
Either the people you deal with have a skewed view of how a female should look and what is actually "heavy", or your perception of how you're viewed is skewed. At your stats, you're probably underweight.

Thanks born2drum...and ninerbuff I'm not quite sure...like I said I'm ample in the hip and buttock area so I think that's where I get the negativity , fat-shaming directed from people.0

Also, it's high school everyone gets hassled about something. You will encounter it less as you get older0

Please don't let others give you a negative body image. Stop weighing yourself and only check your body fat content. If you are in a healthy range then relax. We are way too weight obsessed as a society and not focused enough on health.0

Thank you everyone for the support. I suppose you get told the same thing enough times you begin to believe it.
@Rigger : Thanks that made me laugh XD0 -
would love to have you in my highschool and in my town. you will be queen!0

Izzat you in your profile pic? If so, you need to get out more. As in, meet more people who don't have their heads up their butts. You look terrific.0

That's me, thank you so much. I'm hoping college will be better, high school is such a shallow place0

College is a lot better.
I have only encountered two people who were quite stuck up during my time in college so far. Most people don't notice such simple things like weight. We're far too busy with essays and midterms to even give a rat's behind. That and most of them are far more mature.0 -

College is the light at the end of the tunnel for many reasons for me0

When I was at high school I was taller than everyone and I felt huge even though I was absolutely normal at 5'7". It was only when I went to Uni that I felt comfortable and there were taller people than me. Finally I was average and didn't feel like a sore thumb.0

It must be the high school issue. Ignore them. They must be intentionally trying to bring you down. I cant see how anyone could actually think that. Unless they actually mean it as a compliment. When I was in high school everyone referred to me by my booty (in a few different nicknames). At first I misunderstood, but it was explained to me that it was a compliment. I had a 21 inch waist, so my booty looked big in comparison, but I was small and compact, just curvy shaped.0

If you're over weight then I don't know what fit is. 5/7 117 lbs is right on target where you want to be. I mean technically you could even gain some lbs and still be in the clear. These people are just jealous of your curves. The psychology of it is when people are not happy with themselves they put others down to make themselves feel better.0

You are fine as is. Here's a good piece of advice, don't get in the habit of letting other's perception of your person dictate how you feel about yourself or you will be one constantly depressed gal. The truth is no one is perfect and we all have our flaws. Learn to love yourself (and others) for who you are, change the things you can change, and let go of the things you can't do anything about.0

I don't know if anyone is checking this thread anymore , but I am now in college , still have a small waist and wide hips. Freshman year I was all over the place and went down to 113lbs. I most definitely needed to eat a sandwich at that time. It was very enlightening to see how others influence you, my roommate never ate unless I told her she needed food and constantly wanted to compare weight even though we had completely different height and body types. I became so obsessed with being light and small that it's taken me while to get back to normal. I no longer have this dorm mate and live on my own. I'm back up to 132 lbs which has enhanced my curves but I would like to go back to at least 125lbs or get back into fitness. Long story short, any tips for getting back into shape for someone who hasn't worked out in a while?0
