I weighed myself on Friday morning and had lost 3lb, stuck to the diet Friday and Saturday, weighed myself this am and I am 5lb heavier?!?!!?! There's no WAY I gained 5 lbs in a day when I had 700 cals and worked out?! Feeling so upset- was so good all week and for WHAT?!

So you lost 100 lbs and you still don't understand weight fluctuates? And why are you eating 700 calories a day and working out as you say. I'd be upset too because I'd be damn hungry
Can't see your diary.0 -
You're a girl, weight fluctuates for us! They say to weigh in once every 2 weeks just for that reason.( though I confess that I do so once a week just cause seeing results that often helps me stay motivated.) But you might just be seeing something cycle related...0

I don't know if it's true but I heard once that if for example you have a good week, it's the following week that you see it on the scales. I'm sure someone will soon correct me if I'm wrong. That's why I only weigh once a week otherwise I'd say I'd see the weight going up and down and get disheartened.0

MFP says to weigh yourself once a week. I've never heard of every two weeks before. That'd frustrate me!0 -
Why are you only eating 700 calories?
Weight fluctuates, it's standard. I weigh every day, but I only really pay attention to the overall trend.0 -
in theory as we are female, it would be better to only weigh once a month, as if we weighed on the same day each month, say 7 days after mother natures visit, we would have everything within the body at the same state each month, ie fluid retention, hormone fluctuations, I am trying this method as seeing my weight go up each TOM is so disheartening, plus it takes me a while to get rid of the excess fluid...
its only a thought for those of us who do not like seeing the scale jump all over the place, some people have no problems with TOM so they can weigh weekly0 -

I have quite a slow metabolism so I don't need many calories anyway. 700 was low as I missed dinner but all the more reason to be surprised at the supposed gain! I just checked my measurements and I am an inch smaller everywhere than I was on Friday so I can't have gained weight, I guess it must be water or something- I did do a harder workout than normal yesterday...0

Of course its water weight, but after reading your profile you may really want to look at how you view food. 120 lbs lost in 5 months? So you starved yourself.... My advice is start understanding how your body works in terms of nutrition and fitness and start doing this in a healthier way.0 -

700 calories. Right there is your problem. Eat more. A woman needs a bare minimum of 1200 (more if you exercise). Stop starving your metabolism.0

Still convinced your problem is a slow metabolism?

Congrats on the weight loss first OP as I am sure your quality of life is better but I am hoping you have or learn to achieve a healthy relationship with food and yourself.0 -

Maybe you blacked out and binge ate because you're not eating anywhere near as much as your body needs.
(Mostly being facetious, but it could happen)0 -

Oh, I didn't - I was eating 1300 a day, I just discovered running! I ran at least 10kms a day and weight fell off like crazy! I was so very overweight that I think my body was just desperate to get rid of it. Unfortunately though I am used to that rapid progression of weight loss so trying to shift the last 30lb after a year long plateau is taking some getting used to! Yes, I only had 700 cals yesterday but as I said I missed dinner by accident- dinner at 500 cals would have been 1200.....0

1300 cal per day + 10km running at that weight =~ 700 net cals.0
