So I have started to begin to eat healthy on my weight loss journey. Would alcohol effect my diet?

Yes- alcohol is empty calories. I still drink, but moderately, and don't add any mixers. I'll pre-log when I know I'm going out with friends. I prefer tequila with a squeeze of lime, gin and diet tonics, and an infused vodka with soda. All of these will keep you at under 100 cal for the drink, no extra calories.
Beer and wine are post-workout only. So much extra sugar!0 -
I generally try to avoid alcohol because of the empty calories, which is hard because I was an avid scotch drinker before I started my lifestyle change. I limit my alcohol intake to special occasions now. I actually had my first glass in over a month yesterday(since I started losing)0

Well I'm losing weight while still drinking ales. Been losing nicely of late while drinking a few times a week.0

It will affect your diet insofar as alcohol has calories (as do mixers you might enjoy with it) - so you need to log it and track your intake. Most drinks are "empty" calories in that they are going to give you fewer macronutrients per cal ('cause of the alcohol cals!) than other foods / drink so it can sometimes be challenging to get all the protein, fat, and carbs you want and still have room for some booze while maintaining a calorie deficit.
I drink often, and I enjoy it, and I am meeting my nutrient and calorie goals. But I did have to cut back on my craft beer intake to do so without struggling. I drink red wine, a few beers here and there, and lots of tequila pretty regularly. You can do it but it is simply another complication in maintaining your diet goals - or, rather, another challenge that comes with its own reward.0
