Anyone get this kind of lymph pain?

I popped a piece of chocolate in my mouth and let it melt. When I swallowed, the right side of my jaw below my ear shot stabbing pains into my neck which continued every time I swallowed. I've had this before, about every 4-5 years, but never this intense (I was screaming and beating the wall). My usual method of dealing with the pain is to stroke along my jawline. until the pain subsides, then I can keep eating. That didn't work, so I tried a cold washcloth held against my right jaw and kept the chocolate on the left side.

My lymph glands have been slightly swollen the past 2 days from summer sniffles. Now that I finished with the chocolate, the pain is gone and the glands aren't swollen. I'm wondering if anyone else gets this type of pain or if I'm a special snowflake.

Why wouldn't you go to the doctor?

What's a doctor going to do about it? Same thing s/he did the last time I went - see me again if it comes back. I go back and it's the same advice. Like I said, I wondered if anyone gets this sort of pain. I'm not looking for medical advice about it.

Then I would go see a different doctor. My dad has lymph pain and ended up having cancer.

But you do what you want..

    ^^ This.

Find another doctor. Seriously. Pain like that is not something to be overlooked. I read an article about a woman who would have the same kind of pain whenever she drank wine. Turned out it was cancer.

I have a relative who has non-Hodgkin lymphoma and it is NOT something that is fun nor is it something to take lightly. Every day she survives is a miracle.

Yeah I was gonna offer advice until you said you weren't going to the doctor...if you're unhappy with your doctor, go to a different one or demand what you need. Lymph nodes are not something to d*ck around about and be stubborn because it's a popular place to have cancer.

    Good luck.

Well, you get my GP to get me an appointment with a new doctor. In Canada, Newfoundland specifically, I can't just go see a doctor because I'm sick. I have to find one willing to take a new patient, wait 2 weeks to several months to actually *see* said doctor, and go through the whole rigamarole of :

"I have pain along my right jaw that flares up aver 4-5 years."
"Oh, are you experiencing any pain right now?"
    "No."
"Well, come back if it returns." or "Well, lose some weight and see if that helps."

    ad nauseum.

Like I said, I'm not looking for medical advice. I just wanted to know if anyone else had pain like this or if it's just me. But thanks for throwing cancer at me because anyone who has lymph pain automatically has cancer.

    1. It's not continual/lasts about 1 minute.
    2. Only every 4-5 years does it occur.
    3. Is about a 3 on the pain scale. Today was a 7 1/2.

    Whoa
No one said you had cancer. You were given two experiences with lymph pain that happened to end in cancer.

It's probably nothing, or it may be something...idk We are not doctors.

    Good Luck

    Can it be toothache?

I know this post is old, but did you ever find out what was causing it?
I woke up this morning with a gland the size of a softball, and very painful. After a trip to the er, I still have no idea what it is. They told me to elevate my head, use heat, and see if it goes down in two weeks.

I'm wondering if it's some kind of allergy.
