From 174 to 153.8! I'm 5'6". Did it through counting calories, and exercise. I found using the basal metabolic rate and really crunching the numbers to be way more effective than eyeballing it. I think now that I'm basically at my goal, I will try to be healthy, but less obsessive about counting.

Great job!! I'm also going to be trying to lose the 12-20lbs soon enough.. Mind if I ask a few questions? How tall are you? Also, I am curious about your exercise routine. Any lifting involved?

Funny you should ask! Last september I had hernia surgery, so I haven't been able to lift until about a month ago, and very lightly (all machines, no free) at that. Been doing planks, too. pushup position, then each side. All for 30 seconds each, twice.

In terms of exercise, I tried for 30-40 minutes. When it was warmer, I would swim and run, but now I've mainly just done the stationary bike, and the treadmill.

    I'm 5'6".
