Hi there, I'm Sarah.
I've never made a concerted effort to loose weight before.
I'd like an indication of how achievable my goal is.
Also if you want to join in with support and advice I'd really appreciate it!

Hello Sarah, basing on my own weightloss experience it would be possible, considering that you can be adviced by MFP to lose up to 1 kg per week. This didn't happen to me anyway since after a few months I hit a plateau. Some people get tired of eating such few calories or exercising constantly, so it all depends. The first kgs are the easier to drop and it also depends on how healthy your weight is now. As soon as you drop some kgs you get closer to your healthy weight for your height and so your body gets less disposed to lose more kgs. Don't impose yourself a goal already, just decide how much would you like to lose per week so that MFP can calculate your daily intake for you, try it for a couple of weeks and see what happens, so that you can adjust your diet if you feel like it doesn't work or it's way too hard. Try to find some exercise you like, even just walking, and challenge yourself a bit everyday. I bet you're going to drop some kgs in no time. Just don't rush, there's no need to. :flowerforyou:

Hi, Sarah. As stated above, don't be in a rush to lose your weight. It can lead to yo-yoing and other unfortunate consequences. Even just logging everything you eat for a week or so and eating as you normally would is valuable - it can show you where you've been going wrong with food choices . Good learning for the future.

Set a reasonable weight loss target per week - 0.5kg per week is recommended by most dietitians. Resist the temptation to restrict calories, it's not necessary and can make the difference between sticking with it and giving up.

Lastly, read the link above. REALLY read it, it's good *kitten*. Best of luck! :flowerforyou:
