Gaining weight

Hi Everyone, I have began my lifestyle change about a month ago. My starting weight was 270 lbs. I was losing weight slowly and made it to 258 lbs last week. At this weeks weigh in I was back up 10 lbs. to 268. I didn't change anything about my diet and have been pretty consistent with my low calorie intake goals. I can't understand why my weight just wont come off and stay off. I recently had blood work done and there are no thyroid problems or anything like that. Is this happening to anyone else or can someone please help explain why this is happening. Thanks.

  • Check your sodium intake, it's nearly impossible to gain ten pounds of real weight in a week, especially when you are watching your calories. Drink a lot more water and watch the sodium.
  • Without knowing anything except what you posted, I have this to say:

    1) You lost two pounds! That is better than gaining and you are headed in the right direction.
    2) you said that you have been "pretty" consistent with your intake. You need to just be consistent. Measure and weigh carefully. If you know how much food you need to stay the same or lose then you have what you need. If your tdee is accurate, your diary says you are eating under your TDEE, and you count everything you eat, then your diary will tell the true story and the scale will catch up.
