I second this!! Ice cream/frozen yogurt, whatever, it's kryptonite to me. I work my can off every week so I can have that one meal of ice cream on a Saturday night. Up until a month and a half ago, I did it every weekend without fail for 2 years. Unfort not being the outside kind of guy when it's 20 freaking degrees out has forced me to cut it out the last month to be sure I'm staying on track due to lighter activity level. As Homer Simpson would say, "Ice cream, how I miss you so......."0 -
IMO, the best ice cream "alternative" is a small serving of homemade ice cream. That way you control what goes into it and know how much you're having.0

Oh, I read it differently. I thought the point was that ice cream was too high in calories to fit the OP's plan so she was sharing a lower calorie alternative she liked.
she made the claim that cool whip and graham crackers are healthier than ice cream, which was what some took an exception to. Additionally, I do not really see the need to replace a servicing of ice cream which is about 210 calories with her 130 calorie option ...is the 80 saved calories really worth it? I guess...
and then of course there was the "zucchini ice cream" *gags* substitute suggestion...
Yes, I am aware. But if she is overweight and one caused her to gain weight or remain overweight, and one helped her lose weight, then she is not necessarily incorrect.
While I have no way of knowing the calories in her ice cream, since they can vary greatly, what is "worth it" is always personal. It seemed obvious to me that the OP did not always think ice cream worth it by the fact that she was excited about her alternative.

Oh, I read it differently. I thought the point was that ice cream was too high in calories to fit the OP's plan so she was sharing a lower calorie alternative she liked.
she made the claim that cool whip and graham crackers are healthier than ice cream, which was what some took an exception to. Additionally, I do not really see the need to replace a servicing of ice cream which is about 210 calories with her 130 calorie option ...is the 80 saved calories really worth it? I guess...

Yes, I am aware. But if she is overweight and one caused her to gain weight or remain overweight, and one helped her lose weight, then she is not necessarily incorrect.
While I have no way of knowing the calories in her ice cream, since they can vary greatly, what is "worth it" is always personal. It seemed obvious to me that the OP did not always think ice cream worth it by the fact that she was excited about her alternative.

I applaud you for trying something different to break your pattern. Pretty sure Cool Whip is all chemicals though so it may not be any healthier even if it is lower in calories.
Ice cream is *all* chemicals too. So is water. So is your body. Everything is made of of chemicals; they are the building blocks of our world.

op I just have a question about how you got 2 sandwiches to equal 130 calories when the regular graham crackers are 130 calories alone. and when I add in 4 tbs cool whip free it comes to 160 calories for the 2 sandwiches. (I assume you would need about 2 tablespoons per sandwich) . not that the extra 30 calories really matter I was just curious. I am definitely going to make these today they sound delicious. I had ice cream yesterday for dessert and this sounds like another delicious option. and to all of those people saying they can get a real ice cream sandwich for 150 calories that may be true but with only 10 more calories I can have 2 sandwiches. Also if I don't eat them the same day do they taste good after staying in the freezer a couple days and do you cover them in plastic wrap or put them in a Tupperware bowl?0

There's no need for an alternative to ice-cream, all you need to do is choose your ice-cream carefully.
Firstly, go for a cone or individual pot. This will help you count the calories more accurately and you won't be tempted to put just a little more in the bowl.
Of the full flavour cones I've tried, the best is the Cadbury's Buttons cone - a full size come with 165 cals.
I also like the Skinny Cow ice cream lollies that keep low cals by nor having a chocolate coating. They are 95 cals a stick.
My favourite cone however is the KitKat one, with a short finger shoved in for good measure. They used to be 246 cals but the new packs (I guess they are a little smaller) are 201 cals. Also, if you leave them in my freezer for a few days, my kids will surreptitiously open them and steal the KitKat!0 -
Try some non fat vanilla greek yogurt. Add a modest serving of chocolate chips (I use one teaspoon) and maybe some almonds, or other nut of choice. You wind up with a "dessert" that has pretty decent macros.0
