Please Don't Crucify Me.

So I've been away from MyFitnessPal for about 2 months. For the past 2 months, I had joined WW. Not sure why!! Oh, I know, I was steadily gaining weight and I lost my way, couldn't find my way back. From about August -December I packed on 20 lbs of fat. This was also during the period I started getting treated for Major Depression. After joining WW, I lost 6 pounds in that 2 months. After awhile, the concept really started bothering me. Fat free was the way to go, no healthy fats, nuts were an indulgence, oils were limited to 2 teaspoons. Foods chemically ladened were preferred and other than the points value, I really didn't know what I was eating...protein, fat, carb etc. My workout basis also changed..I no longer made time for strength training, but started cardio only regime. Basically, i was all over the place... Then the time came for me to convert my points into calories, by logging them here and I was dumbfounded that what would be a day way over my daily points value was only 1300 calories. How can I sustain that forever.... Back in May I remember being at 194 size 12/14 and now I'm at 215 size 16W... Needless to say I canceled and hope I can once again gain some stability/accountability from MFP.

No one gets crucified for being lost I'm glad you're back. It seems to me that MFP is a much more reasonable way to track your intake, and it'll make all the difference if you're tracking your macros and sticking to whole foods.0

Welcome back Glad to see you found your way home0

Welcome Back! Seeing my calories and macros works much better for me. Get back to the strength training and good luck to you!! Wish you the best0

What works for some doesn't for others. I tried WW but had the same problems. I don't like ready made food for the most part because I love to cook too much. Welcome back0

Welcome back! The MFP approach gives you the tools to make your own decisions, to learn what works best for you and get lots of friendly support. WW, although I'm sure it works for many, to be blunt are there to make money. Keep at it and good luck!0

My personal opinion - WW is an absolute waste of time. Calorie counting is the only way forward.0

WELCOME BACK!!! :flowerforyou:
Slow and steady ... just remember... to stay consistent. I think sometimes we just want the fat to melt off... it's going to take time; you're going to fall off the wagon. Some days you might even get run over by your wagon... but you just have to stand up... dust yourself... and get back at it!
Even if you have to start over everyday... never quit! It will pay off!!0 -
Welcome back. It's okay to be lost as long as you find your way again and it looks like you've done that. WW didn't work for you and that's okay too. This worked before, it will work again.
Good luck. And I hope your treatment is going well :flowerforyou:0 -
No one's going to crucify you. I'm sure every person here, including myself, has tried all sorts of diets or crazy weight loss regimes. I tried weight watchers a while back, didn't do anything for me either. It doesn't matter if you get lost along your way, as long as you get to your destination in the end.0

Have to find out what doesn't work before you know what does work!!
Best wishes on your journey.0 -
Glad you found your way back! It's great that you didn't give up. Next time you see your doctor, ask them about a treatment for major depression that won't contribute to weight gain. I wish you much luck and success on your journey. We all fall sometimes, but what matters is that we get back up again.0

After being on and off track over the last 6 months I am finding that "keep trying" is what works for me. I have days or weeks that I mess up and I just "keep trying" to track. I have a lot of weight to lose so I am sure I will have to keep trying for a while. Welcome back! :-)0

There are a lot of us that would be in trouble for dropping out and then coming back. At least you're here now right?! You can do it!!0

If you mean you started medication for depression, it could have a lot to do with your weight gain. I know it's not easy to ask for that help and I'll support anyone that needs it, I'm just saying that you should keep that in mind when struggling with the numbers, because some medications can make it more difficult to lose (especially for women).
That being said, you can do this with a good mindset and a focus on being healthy over anything else. Welcome back!0 -
Welcome back.
Logging here is easy and free. Plus it gives you total control over what and how much you are eating. I am sure you'll do great.0
