Hey, so I weigh about 253 pounds and want to get to about 215 by Summer ideally July. I'm 178cm tall and this is my plan I'm eating 1800 calories a day down from the 2200 I'm suppose to be eating and I'm also swimming for 30 minutes a day four times a week and hopefully increasing that time once I get better.

Hey, sounds great. Feel free to go down to 1700 if you want to lose weight quicker. I often set limits that are actually a little lower than i need to so i can break them without feeling bad and actually going over my REAL limit. So think about putting 1650 on MFP.
Cardio wise, the swimming sounds great. As long as your diet is good and steady you'll be on your way in no time. Consider putting on muscle as that will increase your resting metabolism and help you burn a lot more in the long run. You may be doing so already, i just thought i would suggest as it wasn't mentioned.
Good luck (Y)0 -

I agree with the around 1700kcal recommedation. However, dont worry about putting on muscle too much at the same time. If you want to lose that much weight in that time its going to take a serious cardio commitment and dietary. To try to balance that weight resistance training and appropriate protein intake/timing will be challenging.
Get your primary goal down then worry about muscle mass afterwards0 -
You can absolutely achieve it. I went from 255 to 175 in 6 months. You can def do it!0

Wish I could say it came off that fast here ... age, body type, body shape, metabolism, time and ability to exercise and of course food intake and setting realistic goals. I suspect that nearly EVERYONE wants it OFF NOW. It seldom went on that way so expecting it to get off that way just is going to lead to disappointment. *lol* I SINCERELY don't want to have it take as long to get off as I've had it on. It isn't coming off all that fast but having it come off more slowly is allowing me to establish good habits both in exercise and eating that will stay with me for life.

Dedication and discipline are the keys here - the amount? Totally achievable. But you've got to have clear expectations for yourself, and stick to your guns!
Best of luck!0 -
At your current weight, with nearly 5 months to go, and being a man? 38lbs is extremely doable.0

You can do it! Drink lots of water. Switch out an unhealthy snack for a healthy oneatleast oncevavday. Small changes add up!0

Yeah, damnit I know that gender does comes into this - male metabolism kicks it way better than female AND your age is also in your favor - at 19 should be able to knock that out with dedication. However if it is just for 'six months from now' as a goal without long term lifestyle change one could find themselves doing the same thing in another 6 months to a year. The whole yo-yo thing really just doesn't do it.0
