Chest training...how to keep my boobs this size?

Hi all,

For the majority of my life after finishing puberty I was pretty skinny, and my breasts went back and forth between a 32A and a 32B. In the last couple of years I have gained a couple of stone of excess weight and am now a 36D (technically a 36C, but when I had my bra fitting the woman doing the fitting told me that I needed the D-cup to accommodate that bit of bulge between breast and armpit). I want to return to my previous size 10-12 from the 16-18 I am now and am currently just doing powerwalking, but am about to incorporate light kettlebell workouts also for toning purposes. The friend who gave me a lend of the kettlebell told me that there are some chest exercises that would take me straight back to my previous A/B-cup, but that there are others which will allow me to retain the larger size I have achieved. The latter is what I am looking to achieve if this is even possible; I've been told that following this route I would probably lose a tiny amount, but if I went down to say a C-cup then this would still be quite large on a soon-to-be-slimmer frame and this is perfectly fine by me.

What I don't know, however, is what type of chest exercises I would need to do in order to lose as little of my larger bust size as possible, so I'm hoping that some of you will have some advice as I really don't want to go back to having "bee-stings" on my chest :( Thanks so much in advance for any help you can offer :)

Well, I have bee sting after weight loss *shrugs*. Since fat is predisposed to come off where it will, I don't think there's anything you can do to prevent where it'll come from. Sorry.

You can't control where you oxidize fat from. Your friend is unfortunately incorrect.

EDIT: WAIT HOW DID I END UP IN THIS THREAD?! :blushing:

The only way to keep consistent breast size is to get implants and then never gain weight.

No exercise will help keep your bombs from shrinking if that's what they're going to do. You can't choose where you lose it from or where you put it back on at.

Chest exercises help some people make them perkier, but it won't make them bigger.

Sucks but that's how it is.

PS you're a d cup. If you are in a c bra and have that bulge by your armpit its because your bra is too small.

    Stop listening to your friend.

the fat leaves where it wants to leave from under no coaxing/crunching/lifting/stretching at all.

Doing chest exercises will help the pectoral muscles-since a. you cannot work fat and b. since breast tissue sits on top of it and is fat not muscle- you are going to have a nice chest- but no impact to your breasts at all.

Weight loss will probably help you reduce some of that- but there is no fixed solution- some people's stay- some people's go.
    It is what it is.

    Bee stings really suck.

I was outside hitting the heavy bag a couple days ago, and a yellow jacket got me in the butt.

    3 times.

It's still sore and I have awful purple welts.

I would want to avoid them, too.

Breast implants. Or, embrace your smaller t*ts.

This is why the woman doing the fitting told me to get a D-cup bra, and is consequently why I have been wearing a 36D bra since...

I am sorry to tell you this, but your friend is incorrect. The only way to remove fat from specific places on your body, is with cosmetic surgery. As others have said, you can lose the weight you want to shed and look into breast implants if you are unhappy with your new size. But... Thats the truth is your friend has given you inaccurate information.
Good luck with your fitness goals.

I have heard that if you do extensive pec exercises, it is possible to develop those muscles so that your breasts stick out more. Dumbbell flies are the example I can think of right now, but if you look around the web for chest workouts, I'm sure you'll find more options.

I've worried about this too. . . I'm definitely small on top and am petite anyway, and with 4 lbs of weight loss have lost 1 1/2 inches from my bustline, argh! So I'm probably going to be going after these exercises too!

    Your "friend" is an idiot.
Lowering your body fat will most likely make your boobs smaller. It is what it is….boobs are primarily fat, you lose fat…sometimes you lose some of your boobs. Hence why you see so many female fitness models/competitors with implants.

I went from a full C cup when I was about 28% body fat…down to a small B cup/large A cup at 18% body fat. I prefer my more 'athletic' looking body even with the smaller boobs *shrugs*

Sorry, no solution for you. Have gone from a 38E to a 34DD, and will probably end up as a 34C (my teenage bra)...aiming for perkiness!!!

Sorry you can't determine where the fat will come from and since breasts are mainly fat...

No chest exercises will make your boobs bigger, nor smaller.... If you loose enough bodyfat, the boobs will go away. There is nothing you can do about it, except implants.

I'll glady take my now tiny boobs over big boobs with a big *kitten* and thighs, and stomach!
  • There isn't a lot you can do. However, losing wt slowly rather than crash dieting helps the wt come off slightly more evenly. Also, if you want to keep a certain amount of bulk in specific areas, you might have to not get super skinny. Adjust your diet to include some healthy fats once in a while. Im in the same boat. I simply cannot have boobs without a little fat elsewhere as well. In my opinion, one certain cup size is not better than another. Its more about what makes you feel comfortable as a woman. You can dress to enhance any body type.
  • I know sometimes guys think differently but I think implants are a gross thing to do to your body. Be real.
