Sooo.....how was everyone's Thanksgiving?
Katie- how is your cleanse going?
My Thanksgiving was wonderful, but I am angry at myself for eating so much!:explode: I don't want to even step on a scale, I feel like a bloated toad! It was also a challenge this weekend because wit hteenagers, they do dumb stuff. DD was backtalking which I will not tolerate and DS was looking at inappropriate things on the internet!0 -
damn I wish I were a stay at homer.0

I had a great week, however I ate horribly, didnt exercise and got totally out of routine, but other then that is was great. My hubby took the week off, which I love, but really messes with my schedule- but thats ok I didnt keep track of my cals- but I know I was way over a lot :grumble: I weighed myself this morning, and it wasnt good  I have gained all of my 6lbs back:sad: I am really hoping that some of it is water weight. I dont actually weigh in till fridays, but I just wanted a peek at the damage, so I have a lot of work to do this week. But I have a good attitude, and am motivated. Its going to be a good week!!:bigsmile:0

sounds like kind of a tough week, sorry!:flowerforyou: Parenting IS the toughest job in the world- but also the most rewarding!!0 -
Good morning all!
Well Turkey day is over. Back to normal(what is that?) for a couple of weeks. I could use prayers today. I am headed to the ortho dr. for another appt about my hip. Had two cortizone shots & they aren't working too well. Hurts to walk, exercise, sit or much of anything. I wish there was another way besides surgery. But on the other hand I need to be able to be a mom, wife etc for the next 50 years too--sigh.
Food wise I did okay--didn't go crazy on our out of town trip. I did have a soda on Saturday. Mainly because I was in pain & my dear bro-in-law who is really rough around the edges brought it to me. Love my family.
Today--goal is to eat at my calories and get some school done w/ the kids before my appt at 1.
Later,
Kim0 -
tagging for later. thanks nicole for keeping this going! i need the accountability--but don't like to admit to my wrong choices.
NOT good this weeekend. ate veggies but ALSO SO MANY SWEETS.
so i am up 1#.
i did get in a walk yesterday morning and that felt great.
goal this week--water, exercise 4x, 4 fruits/veges each day
will catch up on rdg later. and welcome newcomers!0 -
Nicole~I don't recommend doing the cleanse when it is cold out! My thermostat is all out of whack and I am freezing all the time now. Other than that it is good a little hard not to eat the food I would like to. The nice thing is now I can tell which foods give me gas/stomach pains right away (I have cheated a few times and ate something other than fruit/veggies :blushing: ). It is hard when every one around you is eating apple pie, donuts and cookies and all you are eating is fruit/veggies and drinking lemonade, h2o and juice. I will survive though. The body does feel better though and that was what I was going for. Sorry that you are having troubles with the kids! Remember don't beat your self up Thanksgiving only happens once a year. You are doing very good.
Don't have much time but wanted to say to every one else that last 2 lines for Nicole goes for every one else as well! Got to go our garbage disposal went out on us and we have to go get one to replace it.:sad:0 -
Nowic- I know what you mean about hubby being home. i like it too, but it throws off the routine so much!
Stacey- I have eaten too much of everythign so I am with you on that ! ((hugs))
Kim- ((hugs)) I hope your doc has a miracle in store for you about your hip!
Katie-Good to know...If I am not pregnant by next summer, I think I will do the cleanse...full force, no veggies or fruit. I wouldn't be able to handle the freeze...I am sooo cold right now!
Thanks for al lof the support ladies with the kiddos....I sure do need it!0 -
Hi all--well we are going to try another cortizone shot & see what happens. Last time didn't work as well so be praying that this one does a better job. Follow up appt on the 16th to see if we are going to go down the surgery route(or if the shot works--we'll have 3 more months).
Well I resisted the Pepsi this afternoon as I was coming home. Man it was hard but I HATE feeling fat more than I LOVE a soda. Barely. :drinker:
Stacey--I think I have snuck in too many "treats" so I am with you on your goals. Chug the h20!
Nicole--mine were monsters yesterday too--& at church. I don't think they've seen me move that fast in a while. OOooo I was NOT happy.
Happy Monday,
Kim0 -
Nicole, I know what you mean about not wanting to get on the scale! I don't think I'm going to get on the scale for another week or so, after I've had a chance to burn off all my Thanksgiving calories!
Curlie~I hope the cortizone shot works better for you this time!:flowerforyou:
Katie, are you doing the Master Cleanse diet? Because I would totally get into that, even though it's chilly weather here too. I need a little something to boost my weight loss!
Stacey~keep on working on your goals! You can do it!!
I have SOOO many leftovers it is not even funny. The Man invited all of his platoon over, nearly 15 people, and so I made a big turkey, ham, 2 kinds of spuds, all the trimmings....and only 4 people showed up. Ask me how disappointed I was. I just wanted to cry!
And I have promised myself that I am NOT going to put Christmas decorations up until I get my younger daughter's Christmas stocking done. Need to get to the Hobby Lobby today and pick up some white thread. Why don't I have any white thread in the house? What kind of a crafter am I?
Hope you all have a super Tuesday kind of day!!0 -
Kim- I really hope that the cortisone shot works!!! Yay on NOT drinking the soda!
Home- I love the new profile pic! You look sooooo different than the army pic. I wish I had that many leftovers, but I am sorry ot hear that no one showed!
I am trying to sew a shirt for DD for Christmas....HA! I think Stacey may be the only one who really remembers my trials and tribulations of me sewing last years presents! I can laugh now, but I wasn't then. So far so good this year.0 -
Kim~Glad that you said "no" to the soda and hope that the shot works. Surgery is never a fun option.
Home~yes it is the Master Cleanse. Although I did not start it to lose weight. I started it to see if it would help with my digestion problems that I have been having. For it you take 1 lemon (juiced), pinch of cayenne pepper, 1-2 Tb of 100% maple syrup and water to equal 16 oz total. You are not suppose to eat anything at all while doing it and you are suppose to do it for 7-10 days. You drink 6-8 cups of the "lemonade" and then water for 7-10 days but I know my body wouldn't be able to handle that so I let myself eat fruits/veggies and drink 100% juice. I think my body is now getting to the point of telling me that I am done. We will see what happens over the next 24 hours. Good luck with the Christmas stocking. Having that much leftovers is never a good thing. Try freezing some for a later meal(s).
Nicole~you peaked my curiosity (sp?). What exactly happened when you tried to sew presents last year?
Today I am going to see if I can get to my project of making scarfs for my family. I don't know how well that is going to go but we will see.0 -
Katie- Oh my gosh, I was in tears last year! I couldn't get my sewing machine to work right. I have never really been into sewing, and I got the bright idea of sewing the kids pj bottoms. I tried to use my sewing machine, and I couldn't get the stitching right. The thread kept bunching up underneath, or not catchin at all. I was sooo frustrated. I had to get my mom on the phone who used to sew industrial stuff as a living, and the sewing guru (her boss) on the phone to try to help me. I was so frustrated, I just strated to cry! It ended up my mom bought me a new sewing machine for Christmas/birthday. That made a world of difference. when My mom came to visit, I had her check the old machine, and it was the machine, not the user! So I got my fabric cut out yesterday, hopefully i will get to start sewing within the next couple of days!
Did I also tell you that I have been taking voice lessons? I can't remember if I did or not...I started over the summer with my neighbor. It has been another one of those life long dreams that I have had. Well, she signed me up to sing at a festival of trees at our local casino/convention center. It's tomorrow and I am kinda nervous! It can be anywhere from a couple hundred people, to 2500 people! I am a tad bit nervous! Did I tell you I am nervous? She didn't spring it on me, I have known about this, but i forgot to tell you! So have me in your thoughts tomorrow ladies!0 -
So much to catch on ladies. You all have been busy.
I woke up the Wednesday before Thanksgiving sick with 3 sick kids. So our Thanksgiving was spent at home. When I am sick, I eat anything and everything and my head hurt SOOOOOO bad, I just broke down and bought pop to have around, when its that bad that big caffine fix is about all that works.
Tried to be good yesterday, Mother in law took us to McDonalds, OMG, my meal was 1000 calories. I don't know how I did it, but I still came under my cal for the day. Jeez.
So Im feeling much better and going to get my butt moving. Trying to figure out when to do my exercising. If I do it during school time, the kids pay more attention to me then to school work. Then I get my 1 yr old niece for a couple of hours. When she leaves its time to get supper and do evening chores. SOOOO, figuring out times. I need to get exercising. The food alone isn't doing much.
Hope everyone has a good day. And Happy December0 -
Good morning!
Nicole - good luck on singing tomorrow! I'm sure you'll do great! :flowerforyou: And I'm sure you'll have an easier time sewing this year too! I remember how frustrated you were last year.
Well, Thanksgiving went somewhat like I thought it would. MIL served corn, green beans, lima beans, sweet potato casserole & mashed potatoes as her vegetables. Then one thing that DID surprise me was going to my parents after that. My parents, the vegetarians, served us a "salad" with our meal on Friday. It was originally just a lettuce mix. :noway: I asked mom about the other veggies, and she got out carrots to put in it. She said she didn't realize we were all eating salads with lots of different veggies in them. She saw me fix one about a month ago! Oh well. At least she knows now.
I was proud of myself for going running Thanksgiving morning and happy that I only gained 1.2 lbs! :bigsmile:0 -
Nicole~ That sucks when you have problems like that in a project that you are wanting to do. My mom is also a sewing "guru" so whenever I have a problem I call her. Luckily she lives 22miles away so it is close enough that she can come over and help me with my machines if needed. I hope that the sewing goes better this year. Also good luck on the singing. I am not one to sing in front of people. I get nervous too. When I had my first child I would secretly sing to him when the hubby was not around and when he would come around I would stop. Now I don't care if he hears me.
Amy~Way to go on the running.
Got to go the hubby wants his comp back now. :grumble:0 -
Nicole--I remember too!!!! You were a mess but I am glad that you are in better shape this year. You can do it!
Aneajo--so sorry you got sick on T-day! Yuck--but glad you are back on track this week.
Amy--isn't it funny what people think is a "good" salad. My mom does the same thing. Only it is a 7 layer salad w/ mayo(regular) and bacon. AUGH!
Thanks to everyone for the well wishes on the shot on Friday. I am trying to not focus on just that and stress myself out. I even have a date night set up for Friday night. It takes about a week for the shot to really kick in so I won't know for a while how it goes. Another concern is that I have to ride in the car for 4 hours on Saturday. That should be fun.
Doing pretty well on food today--took hot tea with me in my thermal mug so I wouldn't want a soda. That worked pretty well. It is COLD here so I didn't really want to hold a cold cup anyway.
We have Christmas w/ both sides of the family on the 18th so I need to get hopping on gifts from the kids. Anyone have any great ideas for a 8 yo boy to make?
Kim0 -
still not finished rdg--i'm on nicole's i was in tears post.....hehe. i BOUGHT myself fleece pants at target this year--b/c i thought i could make a pair, hey you did!, but then i thought, what are you crazy?! good luck on this year's project!!
y'know, there are lots of cool freezer stencil guy shirt projects on the internet. i could get you links if you want
but real quick--kim, i am sorry to hear that the cortisone shots are not giving you solid relief. (hugs and prayers)
home--your pic is so cute. you look very HAPPY! and how disappointing abt the turnout.
thanks all for the well wishes on my goals. doing good on the water. sweets--well, there aren't many in the house so that helps. i'm using cocoa krispies for my chocolate fix. pathetic.
not doing great on getting fruits and veges. but water, yes! and tried my new leslie sansone walk last night. so that's an achievement.
schooling going well this week and dd1's temperament is a 5-6 on moodiness scale. we can manage. BREATHE
katiem-the cleanse....you have willpower, woman!
sure i forgot some ladies--sorry. know that i'm wishing all of you a STRONG thursday--NO SODA. DRINK the WATER. EAT FRUIT. FINISH PROJECTS. PILE ON THE VEGES. rah rah sis boom bah!0 -

Do you ladies mind if I join you?
I am a SAHM of four boys - 10, 3, 1 1/2 & 2 months. My husband is in the Air Force so we are currently sationed in Idaho, been here a little over a year now. Life is definately crazy with my boys, especially the 3 little ones so I haven't taken the best care of myself. I finally got back to the gym when #3 was 6 months then I found out I was pregnant only a couple months later, the nausea & sickness hit and that was the end of the gym for me. So after this baby I decided that I am going to get back to it asap! I actually enjoy going to the gym cause it's the little bit of me time I get. I am not good about eatting cause I feel like I never stop & am always grabbing whatever is handy, which usually isn't good. I am down about 20lbs from the end of my pregnancy but have 20lbs to go to get to pre-pregnancy weight plus I would love to loose atleast another 20lbs on top of that. I am being realistic & know it's not going to just come off so I need all the help & support I can get to stick with it this time.0 -
Kim~yay for date nights! I am not sure how your boy is but my 9 yr old really likes the idea of making scarfs using the knfty knitters (the round etc knitting looms).
Stacey~My hubby would have to disagree with you on the will power! I cheated a few times during that time. It was hard not to eat the things I like to eat. Next time I do it hopefully I won't be as naughty. I know wishful thinking.
Mamato4boys~ Welcome! I hear you on the three littlest being a challenge. My three youngest are 3,2,1 and they are a handful. Oh and they are all boys. It is never dull moment at my house.
So I decided that it was time to stop my cleanse. My body was always tired no matter what I did. Last night my hubby took me to the Jazz game that was fun and nice to get out of the house and have a date. I had more fun watching the Jazz bear then I did watching the game. The hubby kept telling me are you even watching the game. Talking of projects I am making scarfs. Right now one for the hubby using the knifty knitters and then I have some fleece to make some for all of the kids except the baby. My 8 yr old daughter wants to make some for her friends. She has had a lot of fun helping me with her dad's.0 -
Katie & Stacey--I like the idea of scarves. He might do better w/ the fleece than w/ the knitter. My girls love to do that though.
Welcome mama! Encouragement abounds here. I am one of the mom's of older kids--does NOT mean I am old though!. We have a DS-19(crazy I know), DD-14, DD-12, DS-8. Great job of having those goals. You can do it!
Well today was my assigned day for a soda. Probably will go over on my calories but it was worth it. I am feeling the stress of tomorrow's shot. I SO want it to work. Sigh. On the other hand I got some Christmas shopping done while the kids were at piano lessons(I drop them off).
Looking forward to tomorrow's date--more shopping. Maybe at the mall or maybe internet. We shall see.

Hello Ladies,
I haven't been on here in quite awhile but definitely needing some extra accountability! I've been getting back on track with my workouts. 3-4 times a week for 3 weeks now but I am not back on track w/ my eating. I have had some good days but they aren't going to make up for the bad days! Sweets abound around here lately and my will power has been no match...
Sometimes I think it's a cruel plot against my weight lost. Here I am trying to buckle down and be good, trying to keep the sweets out of the house and someone gives us a huge box of Panera Bread pastries! Really?!
Burned 730 cal at the gym this morning and ate every one back in pastries :blushing:
There, I've said it. No hiding it.
Weight has stayed basically the same for a few months now, I'm up and down 3 lbs most weeks but haven't lost anything since July. At this rate I'll be happy to maintain over the holidays but it would be extra awesome to actually lose!
I knew I could come back to this supportive and wonderful group of women for encouragement. Hope you are all well!
Melissa0 -
Thank you for the welcome ladies!
So I am in dyer need to go to the grocery store, our cupboards are bare. It's a couple days past payday and normally we are there the night we get payed, been a crazy week so we haven't gotten there yet. DS#1 has a holiday parade tonight with the boys scouts so we may not make it tonight either. I am not brave enough to go by myself during the day with my 3 little ones, been there done that and I end up having to give up & leave with the bare minimum! So usually we go in the evening so hubby can go too & we can get two carts. Alright I said all that to say that eatting has not been good for me cause there is nothing to eat in my house! So when I go to the grocery store tonight or tomorrow morning what are some of your favorite healthy snacks? I need some new ideas so I don't get tired of eatting the same old things. I have a massive grocery list forming and need to make sure that with all the normal stuff, the snacks for the boys, and all the other stuff on there that I put on enough things that I will not run out of healthy stuff to grab when life is to crazy to stop & think about what to eat. Which in my house is an almost daily thing!0 -
Kim~ The knitters are actually relatively easy. Both of my oldest 9 and 8 are working on them right now. One is making a scarf for her friends and the other a hat for his friend. But you know your son better than I do.
Melissa~Don't we all need some encouragement some times. I know that I sure have been having a hard time with working out and eating too much. I have maintained so that at least is a good thing. It sure is motivating when you get your new driver's liscense in the mail and your new picture shows just how much you have lost since the last time that you got your picture. Hope that made sense to you.
Mama~I completely know how that feels on the grocery shopping with little ones. I do the same thing for our grocery shopping or I go by myself when the hubby can watch the kids. I like the natural fruit leather, fruit and veggies, crackers with laughing cow cheese, fiber plus bars, granola bars, animal crackers (disney characters from costco), almonds and sunflowers. I can't think of any thing else that I normally get for a snack for me. I hope that this list helps you though.
So today we went to my nieces b-day party. I only took 3 of my children. The hubby stayed at home because ds has croup and shouldn't go out and dd3 was getting the sniffles (my mom will get really sick just from a cold) and dd2 didn't get her chores done so she couldn't go and ds4 is so little that I really didn't want to have to worry about him by myself with the ones I did take. We went to a place called Hollywood connections it is an activity center type place. Had a blast going on the rides for little kids. It was great to see my 2 boys who are 2 and 3 giggling and having a good time. My daughter that is 8 enjoyed her self too. We ended up being there for almost 5 hours. For those of you that have been around for a while you have heard about my niece that was born early and weighed 2 lbs 8 oz. She got to come home today. YAY!!! She ended up being in the hospital for a little over 2 months. One more thing I thought you ladies would get a kick out of. The hubby and I went out on a date last night took our oldest with us since we needed to keep a close eye on him with his breathing being so bad with this croup. Well the hubby left to go to the bathroom came back and wispered in my ear "I just walked into the women's bathroom". HAHAHA I asked him if anyone saw him and he said I don't think so there were some ladies in the stalls going to the bathroom and a guy in the dining area looked at him kindof funny. Oh how many times I have walked into a man's bathroom and made a fool out of myself and he has gotten a kick out of it. It was so nice to have him do it for once. Sorry it is so long. Hope you all are having a great weekend.0 -

Hi girls! I am not new, but new to posting.
I gave birth in 2009 and two weeks ago. Lets just say im def. not close to fitting into my prepregnancy clothing. I would love to join your group!!
I am 25 and live in Utah. I have 3 children 5, 18 mon and 2 weeks old. My husband is overweight and its hard to diet without him on the wagon. The chocolate, candy and meals he eats makes it harder on me.
I actually decided on a life change before I got pregnant with my 18 month old and went from 185 to 140. I need to do this again. Summer is coming and I want to be able to enjoy it like I should, especially with my children wanting to be outside all season. Sweat pants are not what I want to be sporting this year.0
