Frustrated

Hey guys!

I have been on here for quite some time but have never got involved in the forum.

I started weight watchers in December and have done pretty well. I started out at 220 and am at 190 currently. I have always had trouble losing weight ( thanks to my stupid thyroid). But things have gone pretty good so far.

I have been averaging almost 2 pounds a week which is great. But, I knew the plateau was coming and I think it is here. :(

I guess what is frustrating me is that the last time I lost some weight this was the lowest that I got to as well. Just scared that my body is not going to let me go lower than 190. I know it's kind of irrational.

Any away, I am going to try. And post more often and get involved in the support through the community.

Thx everyone!

Susan

Shake it up a bit to get the scales moving again!
  • Hi!

As long as you are exercising and eating well (with a calorie deficit), you WILL lose the weight. Often, if we do the same things for an extended period of time (i.e. the same type of exercise without ever changing it up), our bodies get used to it and can come to somewhat of a plateau. Make sure you're adding in different types of exercises so you are able to keep things going. And of course, what you're eating is going to be a huge factor in weight loss.

    Best of luck

I am like you. I started at 226 over a year ago and am down to 191. I had tried everything including Weight Watchers. I finally went to a nutritionist. She said it is perfectly fine to lose 3 lbs a month. She said if the fat percentage on my body is high it will take longer to convert fat to muscle. Even though I am not losing weight fast my body is changing. My legs are solid and my tummy is flatter. I found one of the best things that help me is less cardio and more weight lifting. I also added swimming to my routine. Its been wonderful! I try to eat high protien lower carb too. This stuff takes time but remember you are not just losing weight you are becomming healthier and athletic. Thats super. Keep it up!!!
  • For the virtual body I think it was www.modelmydiet.com
  • Thanks guys...I just needed a little pep talk. :)

The reason why when I got to 190 last time and didn't lose any more is because I gave up. This time I am not going to do that!

it's so hard when you've been doing it a while and the weight loss slows down. I was losing 2lbs a week too but now it is only 1lbs a week - the only thing I have changed is I go to the gym more, which I thought would increase weight loss but has actually slowed it down.

As long as I am losing, staying the same, I'm happy!

You might slow down (and 2lbs a week is very fast) but as long as you do not give up, there is no way you will stop losing. Do not worry. And there is nothing wrong with your body, this is how it works for everyone.

I've been getting frustrated to, so I understand. I'm 51 days in and feel like I'm getting no where b/c the scale's not moving. BUT. This time, I took measurements and pics, not just using the scale as my gauge. I put this on my feed this morning:

Okay guys, my scale is not moving but my BF% is :) Crazy. I've only lost 8 lbs but -4.5% body fat, and 10 inches overall. I'm happy about this, but it would be nice to see the stinkin scale move! If my calculations are correct, I have gained 3 lbs of LBM, and lost 11 lbs of fat in 51 days. That almost seems impossible. Thank goodness I'm taking all these measurements or I would be giving up by now!

Many say you can't gain muscle in a deficit, but according to the Military body fat calculator (fat2fit website) and my measurements my LBM started at 111 and is now 114. I don't know how to explain it, but that's what it says.

I suggest using more than the scale as a measurement. It really does help when that sucker seems stuck :) Good luck!
  • thanks for the virtual body link.
