50 pounds lost need belly help!! Pix included

Hello I have pix in my profile..one is my before at 205 pounds..and the other is now at 5ft8 155...I have had four babies (all over 9 pounds) I have been using mfp for over a year just made this account to show pix....anyhow I log all foods and I'm very glad w my success..however I need help losing this belly...do I continue with upping the cardio 5 times weekly?? I do treadmill..elliptical..and DVDs..also some Pilates...I also have started using more heaviest weights but I gain when I do that..did for almost 3 months and made my belly look bigger because there is still too much fat over it.....so I have been upping more cardio and doing more push-ups..planks..squats..lunges and some hiit workouts....I am always right on w my calories and protein and carbs and fat...I do allow one "cheat" meal each weekend but still do not binge and still workout...continue what I'm doing??? Thanks for any and all help!!
I should add I still use heavy weights about twice a week...to lose overall body fat....but for past month I have been upping the cardio and have lost about 4 pounds...

Also that before pic I am NOT pregnant that is one yr after my fourth baby....and I don't live in Florida haha (snowy north!) so I do all my workouts at home inside :)

  • Your stomach looks fine right now, I can see where you view it as some big protruding menace but it is really slimming down and looking real nice, or getting to that point.
Just worry about losing more fat overall and your stomach will keep shrinking.

Cut the cardio a bit and do more strength training. Heavy compound lifts. Deadlift, squat, rows, bench, and cleans.

    Rigger
  • thanks..it is much better obviously but still very fat and it just hangs in front but its not skin it is fat....maybe i should add a pic from the front.....so basically just keep doing what I am doing and maybe lighten the cardio a bit
  • thanks! I need a bench! and a bar!! I have up to 40 pound dumbbells I use for deadlifts and squats..also resistance tubing and bands

I would also suggest focusing on your diet. My stomach is similar, with that layer of fat over it. Focus on high protein and lean fats.

Diet is king for belly fat. Strength training is also very important. It will just take time.
  • thanks for the link!! that helps!!! I try and eat "clean" about 85% of the time....6 days a week I am usually at about 45%carbs.... less than 30% fat..and about 25-30% protein....is that about right? I am losing inches and weight so I am not discouraged..just making sure by summer I will be rocking a bikini ;) so about 4 months
  • thanks!!

    less carbs and more protein?

As long as you are getting some of all the macros and getting close to 1g protein per pound lean body mass you can eat however works best for you.

This looks like me posting! I'm down to a good weight but that post c-section belly is still there. At 5'3" I'm already down to 117.5lbs. My pre baby weight was 110. After my first baby by 118lbs I didn't have that flab. I think number of pregnancies matter. I did start strong lifts but have since injured my shoulder and am now off all strength training exercises that use more than 1lb weights :(. No body weight training either. I'm thinking of just letting that flab be there. Once I start strength training, it'll go. All I can do is go down to pr pregnancy weight and hope to heal my injury soon! Posting this so you know you are not alone.
  • I've lost weight before. Things do tighten up as time goes by. It may take months or a year but it will come.:smooched:

<--- I had two babies that were 9 pounds. I gained 50 pounds with them. Weighed 255 pounds when I gave birth. The skin does tighten a lot over time. The longer you stay lean the tighter it gets. There are some limitations and some people require surgery to remove extra skin.
  • I am losing a little over a pound a week and thinking about doing the Daniel Fast. Any suggestions ? Should i be losing more than a pound a week?

Losing a pound a week is great. No need to do any special diet unless you are allergic to something. It took me 3 years to lose all the weight I set out to lose.

You don't need a bench or bar - use your weights with a exercise ball - doing bench press and overhead press lying on the ball make you use your core to stabilize too!

Your results are awesome - good luck with the rest.
  • Thanks so much!! Off to buy a ball :)
  • Got the ball and love it!!
  • Thank u! I need to add u in my real profile :)
