i eat it in moderation. but mostly i stick too wraps (flat outs are good), flax pitas too. when i am absolutely dying for it i usually get a good bread form the bakery and have them slice it as thin as possible. then proceed to had out bread to people who visit. this bread usually spoils fast, so just eat it a little at a time.

Bread isn't necessarily bad, you just need to watch that the calories fit your daily number and that the ratio of carb to protein is appropriate for you. Look for high fiber breads - they will fill you up better and are better for overall health. Low fiber breads seem to encourage bloating.

Having celiac disease and with most of the bread being horrible, I often do without. Great breakfast is meat, cheese and fruit (ex. chicken, pineapple and sharp cheddar.) Or I will do open face sandwiches that are toasted in a toaster oven. I've also gotten into stuffed taco shells, and lettuce wraps of various types. Subway makes great salads - adding in lots of different veggies gives you more fiber than many breads, take longer to eat and fill you up more than you might expect.

Zucchinni noodles!!!! you can find all kinds of recipices online. I love to sub vegetables for where I would have traditionally used a grain.

This. Buying a spiralizer changed my life. Zucchini noodles, sweet potato noodles, butternut squash noodles...

Today marks the day where I truly gave up faith in humanity. Caulifiower as a replacement for bread? I weep

Eat the bread. I eat a bagel thin every day (I eat bagels mostly for the cream cheese). I eat rice, white and brown. Occassionally wild. Just make it fit in your daily goals. Nothing wrong with bread. I love all forms of bread, and most forms of pasta. Still losing weight and getting healthy.

Why? It's delicious and allows me to put things into my diet I would otherwise have to leave out because I blew my carb count on bread or pasta. If I can save the calories and the carbs by modifying a healthy replacement, what makes that so terrible?

low cal breads! I buy the 35 cal/slice bread and don't worry as much. A little bit in moderation keeps the mind sane!

I eat bread when I WANT bread. Sara lee 45 calorie . Light and fluffy. Sour dough when I'm calorie rich. But still bread daily. Mostly just a bump for that recipe.

I struggled this this one. I still buy some wraps for the occasional tortilla sub, but most of them have so much sodium, them you put some deli meat on there with fairly high sodium, and some cheese with high sodium. I mostly make my husband salads or hot lunch. White rice isn't good cold, but brown rice can be good. You could bring brown rice with some cooked chicken or turkey breast, some cucumbers and tomatoes, some goat cheese, and some oil, balsamic vinegars, and basil.

I agree that decent bread is not a problem. The problem is high-calorie bread made with bleached white flour. I make my own bread quite often, and I love those whole-grain seed breads, sliced thinly. I just don't eat as much nowadays. Not so likely to make a sandwich if the bread calories are higher than the other ingredients.

That said, I love bread and hope I never have to give it up entirely.

I think the problem is calling it a substitute for bread. It's not. (Can I make a sandwich on it?) .. Or calling it mock mashed potatoes. Why try to fool yourself? If you like cauliflower, then just eat it, and call it what it is. It's not cauliflower breadsticks .. it's cauliflower sticks. I think that's what sends people into a fit of pique.

Because bread. Seriously though, do what works for you, that's what;s important just keep in mind that any ingredient can be worked into a diet so that people don't feel deprived.

I've actually been doing low carb for the last few months, and my life saver has been the Joseph's whole wheat and flax pitas! I actually ate them long before I started doing low carb (because I just love the taste of them), but they're only 60 calories per pita and 4 net carbs. :-)

I just eat bread/pasta in moderation. I make it fit within my calorie/macro goals and then I enjoy it guilt-free.

    This!^

I read labels and look for fiber & protien content. Sandwich bread (for me) is whole wheat now, not Wonder bread because is has better fiber & protien numbers.

I'm not giving up bread or pasta for life.....I just need to watch my my portions.

Uhh yeah you can make a sandwich out of it if you wanted to. I do enjoy cauliflower and I eat in a multitude of ways; raw steamed, baked, and yes sometimes pureed in a food processor to create a way less calorie laden, equally delicious starch substitute. Maybe you shouldn’t be so close minded. If you can fit bread and pasta into your calorie budget and it’s important to you, awesome, go for it. For me when it comes to choosing my starches I would much rather have these items and still be able to have my pre workout oatmeal. It’s all about personal choices, the OP was asking for ideas, options and substitutions. No reason to belittle creative cooking.

You can eat caulifiower until you literally pop for all that in concerns me BUT it's not a replacement for bread. Can I put my jelly on it? Can I put butter and cinnamon on it then dip it in my tea? Can I use it to make bread pudding? Can I make a sandwich with it, which by the way is the OP's primary concern? Just call it mashed caulifiower or cheesy garlic cauliflower, all of which I'm sure are lovely, not mock this or replacement that and certainly do not suggest it's an alternative to bread. Why can't it just be what it is without trying to make it be what it isn't?

So again. Weeping, faith in humanity lost this day.
